Is this safe for use on a bird cage?

I have some galvanized mesh wire I want to coat. Would this be safe?
Asked by: LoveYourDNA
Because it peels off so easily, I would be afraid your bird might ingest it if it climbs on the cage at all. I would use something non-toxic and/or something that has strong adhesion. Here is a link with some good information. http://eartheasy.com/article_bird_safe_paints.html

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flexible paint in a can Great product. I used it to coat a kitchen sink grid in which the rubberized coating was peeling off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I love Rustoleum, but this is subpar Let me start out by saying I love Rustoleum paints. I've used dozens of cans of their paint on various DIY projects and have loved the results every single time. The problem with this product is it is far inferior to their name brand competitor in plastic spray paint. I used 2 cans of Flexidip white before I used a competitor's white rubber spray paint, and I noticed the difference immediately. 2 cans of Flexidip laid down a thin see-thru layer of white. 1 can of the competitor's was much thicker, much richer, and covered more area. You could cover the labels of the cans, and I could tell the difference from just one spritz in the air. Honestly, I love Rustoleum spray paints - great colors, good price, the 2x Painter's Choice is my go-to paint. Their Flexidip is just an inferior formula.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot better than plexi dip Flexi dip actually turned out to be a lot better than plexi dip. Rust-Oleums product held up better and didn't tear or peel when I went through the car wash. To me, the matte black turned out great on my Z and the rims turned out pretty good with white. But the thing that impressed me the most, was that I didn't have to deal with and drips or runs. I say try it out and see what you think for yourself, but cut corners. Take your time and prep the area your going to spray......that's why it normally turns out looking bad for a lot of people.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever I have used Plasti dip in the past and it has worked well, when i opened this can of flexidip from rustoleum it was really watery, I still tried it, the finished product was very bad, it peeled away super easy, I have not even brought this item to field test it and more then 50% of product has rubbed off. do not buy it, plasti dip is way better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi-use spray paint! This paint is great, It goes on like normal spray paint, yet gives the paint surface a nice texture and feel. If you are bored of it there is no need to sand and prep your surface again. You can just peel away the paint!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected From the name and usage description, I expected something similar to the typical plastic 'dip' that comes as a liquid in a can, but in a spray format. I first tried this on a couple of metal tools that I fabricated, both of which really needed a grippy rubber handle. When I sprayed the handles, all I got was a super thin layer of light pink. I followed the directions to the letter, and after 6 coats, there was barely any thickness to the material, and it wasn't even close to the type of material on a typical tool handle. When I went to actually use it, the coating just peeled off in my hands. Looking at the product description, I think this is more of a paint than anything, and I think it's really meant for decorative use. I also tried this on the lower metal door panels of my truck, just to see how it would work. It was runny no matter what I did. Four coats still did not produce an opaque color, and it looked pink. The good thing is that it did peel off just as described, so I was able to remove it easily. I think this might work for the right project, but going by the name, it's not what I had expected.
