I am not sure if it is the Rustoleum Painters Touch 2X Gloss or the Rustoleum Painter's Touch 2X Paint & Primer colored spray paint but I have used them both for a few years and almost everything that I have used these products on has started chipping. I kept trying.. hoping that possibly the ingredients were changed or I would get lucky and it would actually work..I don't believe it is user error since I have been painting & using spray paints for years.
I used these products on plastic and a few metal pieces. The plastic pieces are the ones that start to chip. One that I spray painted then primed just a week ago is starting to chip already.
(The redish colored spots in my picture is the chipping. I didn't do too much coverage in the bottom of the flower pot but did want it on the edges).. I have a few like this, the ones from last year were so bad I ended up throwing them out.

I just spent days applying clear acrylic jewels to 10 black wooden picture frames. I thought a coating of clear acrylic spray would be the finishing touch. Wow! Was I wrong. All my jewels are cloudy and dusty looking! Now I have to spend more money and LOTS OF TIME to make them over again! Do not use this stuff! I would have not given any stars, but, I had to give at least one star to submit this review!

I used Rustoleum 2X clear to paint over some flower pots. I used Rustoleum 2X white for the under coat... everything looked great. Then I used the clear to give them a finished look and the white under coat started to bubble and peel! This was their own paint and they are not compatible! Nothing on the can says you can't paint over another color. I ruined the pots and have to start all over again! I'm never going to use this paint again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by barney7307 This is a terrible clear coat
I bought this at Home Depot along with the 2X Primer and the 2x Navy blue to paint a bicycle.I have done this may times before using Krylon or Valspar paints. I fix up old bikes i find at the dump or cheaply on Craig's list.I give them to less fortunate people or children so they have some form of transportation or something to have fun on .
Here is what happened. I first primed it then painted it. Turned out great waited 48 hours like the can stated and then added the 2X clear gloss, within five minutes all the paint work I had done was gone. The paint started bubbling every where on the bicycle. Now I have at least 3-4 hours of sanding, not to mention 2-3 more days to paint. Plus I am out the 15 dollars. Never again! I will stick with Krylon paint it is generally cheaper and does a way better job. Just super angry because the Navy Blue looked so great when it dried.

Kept several cans in the garage for a few months before i actually used it. Sprayed poplar wood which was painted black using the same company's product (flat paint primer in one). This clear coat come across as dusty on black paint, instead of a clear gloss. As a woodworker, I'm disappointed in this clear gloss spray paint.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Gipsongirl The product ruined two difference projects. :(
I am new to spray painting. The first time I used it was over a Painter's Touch 2x satin finish on a mirror frame. The clear gloss made the paint underneath literally disappear.
The second time i used it on a laminate shelf, The shelf was sanded, primed, sanded again, cleaned http://reviews.homedepot.com/content/1999aa/termsandconditions.htm#contest-guidelineswell and applied 3 thin coats of a Krylon's Purple Gloss. Then I applied the clear gloss the next day. Should I have waited 48 hours instead of 24? Because it completely broke down in a couple of spots, but not on the entire piece.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Angryinaz Effective paint stripper
Worked great as a paint stripper! I know it says it's a sealer but trust me, it's way more effective as a spray on stripper. The very narrow spray pattern makes it easy to concentrate spray in one spot since you probably don't want to cover your project all at once. And the real benefit is how it will make your paint curdle so you can wipe everything off. What a waste of time and money!
