Can I paint my tub and tile with this?

Asked by: Anonymous
I would not, I would think you should use an epoxy type paint. Read label.

Can I paint the exposed partial board on the new kitchen cabinets I am installing. I'm trying to do what I can to prevent incidental water spills and cleaning from causing swelling and other water damage. People suggested I use a waterproof acrylic paint. The part I am painting is not seen, though on the bottom of the cabinets where they contact the floor & in the toe kick I might get some on the melamine by accident. Do you have a better paint for this job?
Asked by: Joe
Happy to clear things up, Joe! While Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover Brush-on Paint is a water-based acrylic, it will not waterproof or seal the surface. Instead, we recommend Rust-Oleum Zinsser Shellac. This shellac will help seal and protect the surface and is available in a brush-on or aerosol application, as well as a clear or amber tone. http://www.homedepot.com/b/Search/N-5yc1vZaqst/Ntk-Extended/Ntt-zinsser+shellacs?Ntx=mode+matchpartialmax&NCNI-5

32 oz. Ultra Cover Gloss White General Purpose Paint is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from really lousy paint I bought this to paint some ready-to-paint molding. This paint takes 5 or 6 coats to completely cover - I sanded the molding prior to painting, to roughen the surface a bit, and the paint acts like im trying to paint waxed paper. My project is taking an extra few days just because I have to spend so much more time getting the trim ready t use.

Anyone writing anything less than a five-star review for this paint either does not know how to paint, or specifically, use this type of paint. I used my first quart when I re-finished the shelves and insides of my built-in media cabinet (in my Home Theater). It was the closest thing to Muralo, which I can no longer find in this area. It's thick and somewhat foamy, and yes, dries fairly quickly.. it's the design of the paint. Used properly, it will yield a smooth, brush mark-free finish. Proper technique includes using a quality, medium stiff brush with beveled edges. Load the brush well ( do not take off excess on the side of the can like so many people do!). Brush your first line, and back-brush it no more than once. Reload your brush and repeat, always brushing into the wet paint. DO NOT OVERWORK the Paint! One or two brush strokes, in the same direction now. Yes, you will be tempted to revert to your old ways, and add more brush strokes... resist, and you will be quite pleased with the finish from this fine paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good gloss finish leaves a bright white gloss finish goes on easily ,dries quickly and easy clean up. I liked this because I can paint my interior trim and use the same paint outdoors for gutters mail box post or anything you want a quality white protective coating.
