Yes, absolutely. I used it to paint a door handle to match a new lock set on a condo entry door last year. It still looks great, no brush marks, no chips. Love this stuff.

Answer:
Yes, you should be able to paint on the metal frame and handle. It states that it can be used on "wood, metal and more." They do recommend using Painter's Touch primer (especially for bare wood and metal). The can does say it's great for indoor AND outdoor projects- so I don't need think you'd need a sealant for it. Hope that helps.

Answer:
Hi,
You can use this paint on your shower door frame and handle. Since it acts as its own sealant, that won't be necessary.
However, you would need a primer to ensure that the top coat covers adequately. Be sure to scuff sand the primer once it has dried so that the final metallic oil paint has a smooth surface.

All surfaces must be dry at the time of application. Scrape and wire brush or power tool clean to remove loose rust, scale and deteriorated previous coatings. Previously coated surfaces must be sound and in good condition. Smooth, hard, or glossy finishes should be scarified by sanding to create a surface profile. The Painter’s Touch Enamels are compatible with most coatings, but a test patch is suggested. Read Less

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Painted on shower trim handle and 6-light bar fixture and matches ORB fixtures perfectly I'm in the process of changing the shower fixtures from chrome to ORB; however, the MOEN shower trim handle is the one I'm hesitant on removing. So I opted to paint this fixture instead. I have read other blogs where they scoured the metal and then used spray paint; however I opted to paint this fixture instead - it would have to be removed eventually so why not try. The first coat looked horrible; I added five thin coats and let dry for 48 hours before using the shower. I didn't have any problems with the handle sticking and it looks like a new ORB trim handle. I don't know how long this will last but love the look in the meantime. I did the same process with a 6-light bar fixture as well because I didn't want to pay to have the electrical box moved to the center of the mirror (as it should have been in my opinion). This was previously spray painted meadow green; this took five thin applications to cover the fixture and now it also looks like a new light fixture as well. For both fixtures, I made sure they were clean and applied the paint in thin layers with the Linzer foam brush. I didn't bother with metal and glossy primer and I didn't sand the metal either - the paint adhered well so I didn't bother with this step; however, this may be required for items in heavy traffic situations. The paint smell is a little stronger than latex but not as strong as oil based paint - although I had the fans on, I definitely didn't feel like a vapor mask was needed. As for cleanup, depending on the surface you can wipe with a baby wipe or finger; however when it dried, I was able to use brush cleaner to remove the paint that seeped under the tape. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great paint! Love this paint! we were looking for just the right color to paint our new trim we are putting up. White or any variations of just didn't do much for the custom color we'd painted in our living room. I have used Rustoleum ORB spray paint for other small projects and was directed to this by the very helpful assistant at the paint counter. It goes on very smooth and produces a beautiful subtle metallic sheen. And its the perfect compliment to the living room walls. Highly recommended! April 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this paint! I love this paint! Bought this to repurpose my kitchen chandelier. This paint goes on smooth and covers well. I only had to do two coats on my brass chandelier to transform it to a beautiful oil-rubbed bronze. Fairly priced and goes far! Will be using this again! June 17, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome!! this product surpassed all my expectations! I was able to use it on wood and metal. It cleared up perfectly. the color was a spot on match. I am still finishing up the rest of the house but so far it's been awesome. February 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Matched the new doorknobs perfectly!! I bought new doorknobs with oil rubbed finish, but i couldn't buy a matching backing plate/ handle to replace the ugly, pitted, old brass backing plate/handle. Out of desperation I used this, brushed on the old one. It looks perfect. Great texture, no brush strokes at all, and a tinge of bronze highlight just like the knobs (how do they make it do that?) I'm extremely pleased. I hope it holds up in exterior use. The old brass finish didn't! Now I'm looking for all the other yukky old brass stuff that I can paint with this. It covers all the bsd stuff with one coat. Worth every cent. I'd give it 10 stars. August 12, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by V. Nice GLOSSY-Finish - does NOT match "Oil-Rubbed Bronze" Ceiling fans. This is a high-quality, metallic-paint product. As others have reviewed, it has a lot to like. I wanted this paint to match the "oil-rubbed bronze" finish on a new ceiling fan. This was only product on shelf with that "very specific color ( o-r-b ) " name. Nowhere on the can is the paint sheen described (Is "metallic" a sheen?). All other "Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Ultra" products list a "sheen" on the label; but NOT this color. This paint sheen is HIGH-GLOSS ( e.g. Clear Coat) and not "Flat/Matte" as THD described. This paint finish is quite dark so it's best features (glossy, metallic, bronze) are only visible in direct lighting. The "oil-rubbed bronze" finish on new ceiling fans is a very flat "sheen" with slightly more "copper" coloration and little (if any) metallic-sparkle. This high-gloss, metallic paint is not an acceptable match to the finish of these new "o-r-b" ceiling fans. imo: to match your ceiling fan's "o-r-b" finish, have the paint desk custom-mix a sample for you. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best paint - and a great money saver Bought this paint and have painted all of my old gold (brass) heat registers, expensive electric plate covers, some hinges and door knobs, brass towel bar in my powder room, frames, you name it - have to be careful and patient, let it dry completely before touching up or moving articles until completely dry - even painted the Kohler brass faucet in my powder room (saved at least $160) and everyone thinks it's a new faucet!. Bought some new doorknobs and hinges in oil rubbed bronze and they are a very close match. One can goes a long way. December 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed! I wanted to update our front entrance and get rid of all of the brass. I replaced it with the metallic oil rubbed bronze finish. I had refinished my mailbox, house numbers, doorbell and door handles with the Universal Metallic Spray Paint by Rustoleum (the spray paint works great by the way). However, the glass for our storm door had a thin metal accent trim on it and I didn't think I'd be able to spray paint it easily. This product was just what I needed. It matched the oil rubbed bronze that I had already applied and it was easy to work with too. I love the finished product! September 2, 2014
