Answer:
It is indeed water (latex) based for easy use and clean-up.
If you are planning on using a sprayer to apply this paint with, I'd strongly suggest you to use Floetrol by Flood with it.
It's a paint additive that helps the flow of the paint, slows down the drying time to ensure an even professional coat, and also helps the cleanup of the sprayer when you are finished.

Do I need a primer before if I were to apply the paint to a metal bed frame?

I am not sure how well this paint would apply to metal. Would I need to buy primer? Would you recommend this paint for a bed frame? If not, can you give me some suggestions? I also want to know if it would easily crack or peel off, or stain?

Answer:
I recommend a primer but if you put three coats on you'll get away without one. I do, however, would read instructions to see if this can also be used on metal. I'm not sure but I think it can.

The only time this paint will fail (crack, peel) is if you DON'T use primer on the frame first.
Primer helps the top coat by helping it adhere and block any moisture...it's essentially building on a good foundation. Without it, you can easily have failure on the top coat of paint.
For metal, I like using oil or shellac-based primers. You can use Kilz, Cover Stain, or even shellac based primers to get Read More

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad customer experience Purchesed to paint wood cabinets I asked for assistance in picking out product I was not told this product would not work well on wood without primer I purchased a black paint off of the shelf It appeared to be more of a very dark blue/"black. Brought the product back to the store for return, as it was unsatisfactory. I was told "sorry you opened it, can't take it back. I had used approximately two brush strokes worth of paint out of the can I left with the paint and went to Lowes to purchase a product that would work for me I was told that if it was not satisfactory to bring it back for refund--now, that is my kind of store. A bad experience at Home Depot September 20, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by BLACK PAINT Needed black paint for a small project. This worked well for the price and not having to mix paint for a quick job. Went on dark blue, but dried black. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best paint for projects I use this paint for projects. I make wooden and some metal, display racks for Comicon display of products I'm selling. This paint is great. Two coats and you are done. I use the gloss and semi- gloss and in some instances the flat. Great paint - decent price. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is now my go-to project paint I was looking for a black paint to redo a bookshelf and found this little gem. First off, it went on satiny smooth and dried to a semi-gloss shine on the bookshelf. Feeling inspired, I repainted my front door and LOVED it. Still had more paint and moved to the back door. Went from a chalky bland beige to a standout black. STILL had paint left and repainted two project chairs for my dining room. I would probably repaint any woodwork in the house with this paint. My husband stops me. :) It's double coverage, so it goes on thick and you use fewer coats. Will seriously buy more of this in other colors for any needed projects. Highly recommend! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pond foam Much better price than the in store price of $13 per can. Have used it before. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing transformation product This paint was a true life saver and pocket saver. I spend a little over $8 on a can in the store and it stretched very well on my kitchen cabinets. My cabinets are just beautiful and I am so happy with my results. Its not difficult at all when apply the paint but before applying the second coat it must be fully dry. I highly recommend you save your money and just paint over your already existing cabinets.
