Asked by: Pw
You’ve come to the right place! Rust-Oleum Restore 2X Solid Deck Stain should be applied using either a ⅜” nap roller, a short nap stain pad or a synthetic paint brush. Please keep in mind that proper surface preparation is essential for proper adhesion. New wood needs to be allowed to weather for a minimum for 6 months prior to application. The wood needs to be thoroughly clean and dry at the time of application. If there is a previous coating on the surface it will need to be removed or a suitable primer can be used instead. We recommend Rust-Oleum Restore Deck Start Primer! Once the Restore 2X has been applied, the coating does not need to be sealed. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Restore-1-gal-Deck-Start-Wood-Primer-301233/206869729?keyword=deck+start+primer

Customer Reviews

1 gal. 2X Black Solid Deck Stain with NeverWet is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from You will use more than product coverage indicates Prepped by washing with deck cleaner, patching and sanding and then put down a pre-coat of Rust-Oleum Restore Exterior Latex Primer. Applied 2 coats to the decking and after 3 weeks, the solid stain seems to be adhering to the deck. The stain is thick but not too difficult to work with. Still doing some touch-ups on spots I missed on certain portions of the vertical railings. The product was delivered via an on-line purchase, direct to my house, which was very nice. At just under 5-gal., it should cover about 560 sq. ft. with two coats. (Not cheap - it works out to about $35 a gallon.) Will give an update in the Spring of 2016 after a harsh Ohio winter. :)
