I painted my deck with this product in May of last year (2014) I followed all the manufacturer instructions with cleaning and prepping and it looked beautiful at first. Now my deck is a complete disaster! It is peeling, cracking and chipping everywhere, and it hasn't even been a year yet. Terrible waste of time and money.

I used restore for my deck. The deck was stripped of all stain prior to application and was well prepared.
Applied two coats and it looked great at first. It has been less then a year and large flakes are peeling off. The only place it seems to be doing well are on the boards I replaced because they were warped. So if your deck is new this might work for you, but if it is older with a few cracks do not use.

Was hesitant after reading reviews - but then I met people who had used and loved it. So we decided to do our decks - major fail six months later. Cracking and peeling everywhere one very unhappy customer. When weather improves we will be renting a drum sander and try to get rid of it all.
The only positives - the 4x and 10x are thick and apply nicely - nice variety of color options.

Didn't last! Followed instructions and used in front decking and stairs as a trial. Chipped and peeled after one winter. Used Over Deck on the back and side decking last summer and it has stood up so far. Plus it was much easier to apply!

We really like the feel and durability of the restore 4x product, however we went with the cedar tone. Although, we loved the original color, it shows everything! Would not recommend this color for decking that you are using. Would be great for railings, but definitely not for walking on, at least not in the lighter colors. Although, it is easy to clean, you need to remove everything from deck and scrub with a scrub brush to get any darken areas clean, but it truly does come back to the gorgeous color, just more work than I wanted to extend on deck!

As a professional and after reading some of the reviews I felt in necessary to give my 2 cents for what it is worth. Before you use this product be sure to purchase and use the "RESTOR DECK AND CONCRETE CLEARN" Please read my review on that product as well. I find it often enough that people do not take the proper preparations when applying coatings. Rule of thumb " your coatings will only be or remain to be as strong or as good as your preparatory application" Also remember that no two substrates are the same, what worked and is suffice for one persons substrate may not be suitable for your application. Sorry to break the bad news but in some cases "mechanical" profiling as apposed to "Chemical" profiling is most often necessary for substrates in bad condition, each requiring different types of machinery from wood decks and concrete slabs.. So now that we have the preparation info out of the way( for further info see my review on Restore Deck and Concrete Cleaner )... Lets talk about the 4X coating.... I STRONGLY SUGGEST THINNING YOUR FIRST APPLICATION.... by adding a ratio of 2parts pain to 1 part water for your first application this will help bond the first layer into the wood or concrete. Do NOT! use the provided rollers for the first layer, use a brush, mop brush or a soft bristle broom ( what I use for concrete slabs ) apply this 1st coat which will be very watery so protect adjacent surfaces well... massage this into the pores of the substrate, for wood surfaces this will open up the wood and like a sponge it will soak the coating deep into the matrix, same goes for concrete this allows the coatings to penetrate deep into the molecular capillaries of the concrete slab. Do not worry about streaking or unsightly brush strokes... this is your first coat and it is more of a saturation coating not an end look. Allow this to dry completely.... I suggest 4-6 hours and up to 24 hours is best. When you apply your 2nd coating you can thin it 3 parts paint to 1 part water.... I suggest using a thin nap roller that you prep by applying masking tape around the nap and fibers then remove the tape to remove the loose fibers from the factory... now your ready to use... NOTE: if you use the suggested texture roller this product will not extend as per the SQFT yield listed on the product label.... By altering your application in the above manner and more importantly using and understanding the Restore Deck and Concrete Cleaner application.... you will extend the 4X coatings SQFT yield, you will get a better bond to your substrate and prevent further applications or touch up troublesome areas. Remember that if you apply a thick coating in one pass over a chalky splintering dusty substrate, your coatings is only as good as the substrate preparation... This is where many applicators get into trouble, even the ones who claim they have prepped properly, in some cases it may require mechanical profiling as apposed to chemical, knowing the difference will save you time and money... VERY IMPORTANT FOR CONCRETE SLABS.... Please understand what efflorescence is in relation to concrete slabs and do yourself a favor after proper preparation... Buy a liquid MVB or moisture vapor barrier and apply this before the 4X coating... this is 90% of every concrete coatings failure in addition to poor preparation applications... If you do all this correctly the 4X product is tough as nails PERIOD... if you don't well understand that there are no magic wands out there or products and more often than not it is applicator error as apposed to poor product, learn to get the product to work for you by doing your due diligence....... That was my two cents for what it's worth..

I purchased this paint last year. I spent a lot of time prepping the deck exactly the way that was recommended on the gallon. Now that spring has arrived I am finding that the paint is peeling, chipping, and curling . It looks awful! All I can think about is the work ahead of me to get this mess off my deck and start over with a different product

Spent a lot of time prepping concrete and applies as directed. During the winter it was flaking off and is continuing to do so into the spring. What a waste of money and effort. I now have to remove what t is left and redo with another product.
