We want to use this product on steps. Is it usable for the hand rails too?

Asked by: Anonymous
This product has a rough, granular finish, probably to increase traction on floors or steps. It is not suitable for hand rails.

what primer must be used?

Asked by: Anonymous
No primer is necessary but if you choose to use one If you choose to use one, we recommend using Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water Base Primer. To prepare your surface, the area must be clean, dry and free of dirt, grease, mildew, organic growth, and other contaminants to ensure proper bonding and adhesion. Smooth and/or glossy surfaces should be sanded or roughed up to aid in adhesion. For best results use a pressure washer to remove embedded dirt and grime. For grease and oil spots use tri-sodium phosphate (TSP) according to manufacturer’s directions to remove stains. For mildew and other organic growth use a diluted solution of household bleach (3 parts water to 1 part bleach) applied to the surface before cleaning.

2-gal. Cedartone Deck and Concrete 10X Resurfacer is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Restore vs. new deck I used Restore on a part of the 25-year-old deck at my camp in the Adirondacks. Last summer I had replaced a neighboring section of the deck with new deck boards for about $1000 just for materials. The portion done with Restore over old, splitting, discolored deck boards looks as good as the new section. Using restore cost less than $200 and took only a few hours. Applying Restore is hard work since it is a gooey sludgy liquid and requires two coats. The 4" roller with the spongy pad makes it easier. Since completed just a month ago, the "Restored" sections still looks good. I need to wait for a few years Adirondack weather - severe cold in the winter, severe heat in the summer, and lots of moisture of all kinds inc. ice, snow, thunderstorms, etc.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not last... I purchased the Restore 2-gal. Timberline Deck and Concrete 10X Resurfacer from a local Utah Home Depot last summer and applied it to my back yard deck....following the directions explicitly. After 5 months the Restore is already chipping and bubbling off the wood. We have had a very cold but dry winter by Utah standards. I'm extremely disappointed in this product and it should be tougher and last longer than this. I would not recommend this product based upon my experience. Its been a waste of time and money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks great at first but wait 5-6 months and you will change your mind!!! Purchased three of the kits and took my time applying the product to the deck, following the manufacturer's directions. The results looked great until winter arrived. Then the product began to peel. Now it is coming off in major strips and the deck looks worse now than before. Do not waste your time with this product. Save your money.
