Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by User012 Product does not hold up to Old Man Winter!
This past summer I installed this product and followed all directions to a T. I was very pleased with the outcome until this winter when it started to pop lose all over the deck in two to three inch sized bubbles. Not sure if I’ll repair it or just replace the decking. Very disappointed with the product!

Upon researching and reading reviews on many products in which to refinish my outdoor decking I ultimately settled on Restore. The product appeared to be just what we needed and had promise to last considerably longer than traditional waterproofing products. I followed directions and online video to the T. Applying this product took considerably longer and cost considerably more, but the promise of its durability and function appeared worth it. Very shortly after finishing the second coat and waiting the required amount of ‘setting’ time (~8 days), to our surprise the product is flaking off in multiple places. Flaking is the best term to describe it. Peeling is another, but it is more coming off in chunks. This is not happening everywhere. Most of the deck is fine. But these bad spots are getting worse every week. I have pictures.
In conclusion, I feel we did everything correctly in cleaning, prep, and application. The fact that the product is flaking off in multiple areas is very upsetting. I will not recommend this product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Will Horrible Product
When in the planning phase of a very large multi deck project my client and I contacted Rust-O-Leum support staff in regards to their product Restore. We explained to them that we were going to put their product over another product on one deck and we needed to seal their product on all the decks. The Restore did not adhere to the other product we were covering and bubbled up even when we told the specifically what the other product was. We had to completely re-deck this deck. The Restore support staff also told us to use a water based sealer to seal their product so we started sealing one of decks and the sealer had a reaction with the Restore and changed colors. Now we have one deck with very strange looking colors and 2 decks with no sealer and wood exposed to the elements. We have had no further help from the Rust-O-Leum Restore support staff on how to correct the problems. The product is very difficult to apply and leaves a lot of roller maker regardless of how you apply it. Restore is not a good product to go over other products even when it says it’s ok on the side of their product. Restore is not a good product if you are trying to seal and protect your wood. The Restore support staff is a complete joke and even after they completely miss guided us on how to use their product they will not help us on how to figure out what to do from here. They have just left us hanging with an offer to refund the money for the Restore. One other thing I would like to add is initially they told us the bubbling was from rain 2 weeks after we applied their product because their product takes 30 days to completely cure before you can get it wet. I just have to ask why they would even sale their product in the Pacific North West… Horrible product!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by animated Worst product I ever bought. Money was wasted.
We bought this product with high hopes of having a nice deck again. We started to put the product on and knew it was not going to work. We did a small section and stopped. It looked like we took clumps of concrete and painted them on our deck. I immediately took a rag and wiped off as much as I could. The next day my husband had to sand the wood to smooth it so we could proceed to stain it with a regular stain. I will not recommend this to anyone. My sister was going to buy it and I told her not to waste her money or go through the aggravation that we had to. I wish someone would have told me about this before we wasted our time and money on this. I am truly disappointed.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jeremy Worst Product I have ever purchased
We spent well over $300 and two days applying this product. It looked great at first, but it didn't take long for that to change. Within a few weeks a spot right in the middle of the deck started peeling. I was able to remove a section and patch it, but it didn't look right. It has now been about 4 months since it's been down and it's winter time. It was pretty cold here in Tennessee for a few days, now that it has warmed up, about 50% of the Restore is peeling up. I looked at Rustoleum Restore's Facebook page and found that a lot of customers are having the same issues. It is a horrible product and Home Depot should not sell it. Please take a look at there Facebook page before you consider this product, you will see pictures of my patio and many other patios and decks.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by alldeckedout Truely revived my deck
My deck was very old and in bad shape. After reading the instuctions and beginning to work on the deck we were amazed by what was done. I went from wood that was still structurally solid but splintered and pitted from the enviroment where I live to a deck the looks as if I have put down new composite type decking. Is it the best solution for everyone, probably not however it truely was the answer for us saving us hundreds of dollars to replace something simply due to splintering.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Roni Excellent product. Fantastic results
The only thing that I had a problem with was not knowing there was a thinner companion paint that was thinner to use between the deck boards. Using that and a thinner paint brush would have made the job much easier. Our front deck/porch was the test subject. The much larger back deck comes next. Having this additional info will make it much easier and faster. make sure that you use the deck cleaner/acid wash first and mack sure the wood is really dry before you continue.
