Answer:
The manufacturer claims Restore will last 8 to 12 years. My experience and that of many others is that this product will peal in less than a year. It is heart braking to put so much effort into removing old deck stain and applying Restore only to find that you have to remove the pealing product within a year and then find an alternate product to protect your deck..

Hi anitag,
A primer isn't required to put Restore down, however, you need to make sure the surface is clean and in good shape before you use this product.

Answer:
Deck & Concrete Restore dries to a very strong, hard finish once fully cured. It will not crack when things are dropped on it unless they are very heavy items, such as an item that would crack a concrete surface.

Rated 2.8 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Extreme Flaking After cleaning the deck, we applied the product as directed. It looked great for two months. Then it started peeling off where it is exposed to the weather. Underneath the roof overhang it is fine. My deck does not get a lot of traffic, and even the areas that might have one person walking across it once or twice a week are peeling too. I applied it to top of railing and got same results. You can pick up a loose piece and it peels off in strips. My deck now looks worse than before. I don't think the product was researched or tested enough before it was released. The picture I am including shows my deck at approximately 8 months after painting. Very disappointed! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cant believe it is all chipping off I spent many days prepping. Power washed deck, sanded and made sure completely dry wood. I applied as directed in 2 thick coats. Went on think and gloppy but filled in the cracks and sealed great. I was thrilled all last august and into the fall. We had a tough winter with lots of snow but thought for sure it would hold up. Come spring still okay, then we had 2 hot, sunny days and all the sudden the whole deck coating was peeling off. Went out with a broom and swept off big sections. SO disappointed. Hardly walked on it or put and furniture. Is as if it never really bonded with the wood and it couldnt stand up to the change is weather from winter back to summer. Judging by my review I am not alone. I think people that are happy with it havent given it enough time to disappoint them. Dont know what to do now just have a big mess on my deck May 31, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing! This was one of the greatest transformations I have seen for covering an old warn out concrete pad. It turned out great. Its very different than regular paint but after getting the hang of it..it was quite easy. July 22, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wish I would have researched more I watched videos. Read and followed the instructions. Applied the coats as directed and in the proper outdoor temperature to my front porch, which is concrete. Looked great at first. Loved it and even recommended to a friend. Then I noticed it. A chip by the door. Wrote it off as a fluke. Then I came out one day and it was bubbled up. Like my porch had the pox. Cost be a few hundred dollars to do my porch and this spring, it looks like I'm going to have to either refinish it, with something else, or have a professional come and handle the job. Was really hoping this was good stuff. Had plans to put around my pool and on my deck. Not now. December 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk We just purchased a home in Oscoda Mi. The deck was starting to peel slightly so while we were in Home Depot we saw this deck paint. We asked the clerk about it and he said he wasn't to familiar with it. When we returned home we watched a video on line about this product and it seemed to be ideal for our deck project. We went back to Home Depot and purchased 3 two gallon boxes with rollers. After power washing the deck and a little scraping we applied 2 coats of this junk. It was hard to apply and took us all day to finish. We went on vacation and returned 2 weeks later. We put our patio furniture back on the deck and within a few days we noticed it peeling off. We thought we applied it wrong and went back to buy another 2 gallons and gave it a third coat. It's still peeling off. This product is JUNK!!! November 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great this stuff is great but it only spreads 20 to 24 ft plus you have to have a honey cone roller it also splatters a lot my deck usually take 2 gallons of deck stain with this stuff your going to need about 6 May 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A year later Ok, this is what happened to me with this product. I put it on a year ago. The product was called Restore but did not have the 10X word on it, so I wonder if the manufacturer changed the formula? Because of bad reviews? After reading all these reviews I consistently saw a difference in the prep. We rented a large professional belt sander. Our old wood was bare and porous when we applied this stuff, which i think makes the big difference. It has been a year and still looks the same. A couple of minor chippings on the edges, but only in a couple of spots. We applied it in the hot summer months which helps with curing. We did not walk on it for a week and we did not put any furniture or heavy items on it for a month. Most reviewers said they just power washed and spot sanded. We are actually about to do another and we are going to use the same prep by renting a large belt sander. As far as applying this stuff, it was labor intensive. We worked sided by side on our knees. I put on a layer with a 4" hand brush and my husband rolled the texture brush behind me. We put on two coats. I still have neighbors ask me about this stuff because they like the look. May 20, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by garbage i applied 2 coats of this product to a clean dry deck constructed of lumber. I was pleased with the outcome, however my joy turned to grief only a short month later when all my hard work began to flake off!! I followed everything according to the instructions, unfortunately this product failed miserably. November 23, 2013
