Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do NOT buy this product 1- I ruined my knees applying the product, it is thick like mud. 2- Within 2 weeks, it was bubbling and peeling off. 3- Now it is partially chipped off- I will have to reboard the entire deck- there is no way to refinish and other than complete sanding through the layers, no way to remove the part that stuck. I have NEVER seen a worse product- I am so disappointed in Rustoleum, their R & D and their marketing dept for not pulling this product. Get a good stain instead. BTW- I complained to Rustoleum and they had Home Depot refund my full purchase price. That doesn't solve my ruined knees or the refinish issues but I did get my money back. May 28, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Product Totally agree with other comments related to this product. I viewed the application youtube followed the directions for surface preparation, application (applied the recommended two coats). Seven months later the product is peeling off the deck in chunks, one need only rub your shoe against the deck and the product will come off. About the only thing positive about the product is it the removal will be fairly easy, a strong wind with some will probably remove 90% of it. May 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Product After years of stains and paints, my 19 year old deck needed lots of help. I read lots of reviews on different deck refinishing products. Decided on Restore 10x. I did thin this with three cups of water per gallon. Still very thick. I started out using a different roller cover than supplied because many people said the roller cover that came with it was worthless. Almost immediately I saw that a 3/8 inch roller cover wasn't doing the job. The roller cover that came with the product worked much better. It does splash quite a bit. It was time consuming and did not cover anywhere near what the label states. But, it did cover the screws and cracks. Looks nice when dry. The test will be to see how long it holds up. The picture attached shows one coat on the right and two coats on the left. I intend to write another review in about a year after seeing how it does over the winter. July 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by My Deck Looks Great 1 Year Later Well, I don't know what to say. Clearly people have had some BAD experiences. The reviews I've read suggest people followed the directions sufficiently well, at least as well as I did. (Well, I take that back, partly. The people who complain it is like mud...yes, it is...and as many reviews last year, at least, noted...add more water and don't use their roller.) But anyway, back to the quality problems. So, I went out and looked at my deck just to be sure, after reading all these reviews about bad quality, don't buy the product. But my deck still looks great 1 year later. So, I don't know. Did they change the formula? I don't remember this 10x being on my cans, so maybe the 10x formula is different and not working well? I don't dispute what the people who have had trouble say. But again, my deck looks great, at least at the 1 year mark. If this stuff hadn't been available, I'd have had to replace the deck, it was that bad. This product saved me thousands, at least so far. And now the kids can walk and run across the deck with no fear of splinters. August 10, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Huge waste of time and money This product was applied in May of 2013. Seemed to weather well over the summer. I live in Northern Michigan and once the snow melted it was a different story. The product peeled up in sheets. It was a huge waste of my time and money. I now will just remove the boards and replace with a composite material. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money on this product. I would give it zero stars if I could. May 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DID NOT LAST!!! After 8 months it has all peeled off my deck surfaces and railings, deck was power washed sanded and then cleaned with RESTORE, looked great for 3 months but after the winter is has all peeled off June 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hard work but super great results! My deck was twenty years old and never had any serious cleaning, restaining or painting. It had unsightly nail holes, cracks, splits, and wide ugly seams. It looked awfull! I was skeptical about the 10X as the in-store samples looked way too rough at arms length, but my deck really needed serious attention so I bought it. It takes a special roller and it is hard work. It also takes two days without rain before and after painting (lots of luch with that one) but it really did the job. It requires two coats with at least 6 hours between coats. I ended up covering the area after 6 to 8 hours because of rain. I opted for the two gallon boxes because the 4 gallon pains were just too heavy and hard to use. You also get a roller in the box so I never had to buy extra rollers. Another point worth mentioning is that the heavy texture you see at arms length in the store becomes beautifully rich when viewed under foot., i.e. more distance makes it look much more acceptable. One thing I originally worried about was the fact that coverage is listed as about 30 square feet at two coats. In other words it really doesn't go very far; it is much like painting with stucco. After I got used to the fact that the cost was worth the beautiful outcome, I just let the roller roll and went back for more when I needed it. Buy the way, if you buy the two gallon box just prior to use, they shake it at the store and you never have to stur it. Believe me this is a big deal. I bought a box a day until I was done and am glad I did. I will use 4X in the same color for a railing and built in bench as they are in better shape. One final note: this is supposed to last for 12 years; with any luck, it will outlive me and I will never have to do it again. Seriously, the result is really spectacular and now that it is done I am very happy I made the effort. My deck is truely beautiful and I find that I am using it more than ever. I have always liked Rustoleum products and this one is exceptional and delivers on every claim they make. August 9, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH RESTORE getting ready to strip off remaining 600 sq ft of coating. Very poor adhesion even after thorough power washing. Boards were apparently not rough enough?? 8 year old deck. Beware this product March 26, 2014
