Can you put this on new decks after 6 months? I would like to have this texture on my deck next to the pool.

Asked by: John
Yes, you can put on new decks. Be sure to pressure wash, then use the primer, then the 10X.

Can this be used over a waterproofing product such a gaco?

Asked by: Shawndoe
Thanks for the reply. I have been thinking about this and was wondering if would be a solution. I was originally planning to tile and of course would need to apply a thinset mortar first. Would it work then if applied straight to the thinset?

4 gal. 10X Advanced Timberline Deck and Concrete Resurfacer is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 47.

I have used this product for several years and I find it to be the best material for a Make Over on an old concrete deck. My pool deck concrete is probably 30 years old and it had sharp pebbles and concrete on it that would cut your feet walking on it barefoot. So, rather than paying for an overlay (which you may want to consider, btw) I decides to roll on the RESTORE. Now, for the number of cracks and holes and sharp edges that I had, I had to use about twice as much on my first coat. The second coat was much better and easier to apply, and now, here I am about 3 years later and I just power washed my surface, and I ordered 16 gallons to reapply Adobe over a lighter color. So, here are some warnings: Don't get a light color ... I put down the yellowish color on my main area of the deck but because I still had a lot of recessed areas in the concrete, lots of dirt was trapped there and you could see it all on the yellow. Another area I put down a dark brown and it looks good even when its dirty, because it doesn't stand out so much. But now, I'm looking forward to the recoat and I think it will be easier and also now it will be thicker than before. Can't wait. Oh, and BTW, it seems that its a lot less expensive on line than what I remember paying. Happy Coating!

I have been painting inside, outside, decks, fences for some time. 40 years and counting. Covers poorly. Uneven, clumps, will not go between board spacing. Had a helper mixing the inside time I was applying coats. 2 coats looks worst then 1. I cannot believe my eyes. My beautiful deck is ruined. This is not Home Depot fault. This is a terrible product. If you have this product, run away. Take the hit on the cost and buy another product. I am looking for something to paint over to provide a better look and even finish. Good luck. We are all in this together. Keep your stick on the ice.

This is the second review I’ve written because I want to make sure people know about this product. Every year I get more and more disappointed that we spent all that time and money and will have to pay even more to remove this product from our deck. Way too much money for only lasting 1 year, not the 10 years it advertises. We used the recommend Restore Deck Stripper and prepared the deck exactly how the instructions said to, after all we were spending over $500.00. We had no rain or moisture, applied the first coat, wait the recommended time to apply the next coat. Still no rain or moisture. The first year looked great. The 2nd summer moss spots were everywhere and small chipping started. Third year started peeling now on the 4 year, it's peeling off in huge pieces. Not only does the deck need to be redone (I have no idea how to get the rest of it off) the wind has blown the pieces of paint all over the yard and is a nightmare to get out of the grass! We would never recommend it.

It's been through 3 winters and it still looks great. There are a couple spots that I hit with the pressure washer that stripped off - probably my fault. My deck was put on in maybe 1985. There were cracks, splits, and knots. I used two thick coats. I cleaned and made sure the deck was dry prior to applying. This product is for decking, not verticals or railing. There is a matching stain for that. I am very happy with my decision. It's too bad that it's failing for others though.

We followed all instructions for prep and used all recommended products, etc. Initially we were ok with the results, a little disappointed, but it was ok. Well, now our deck is rotting away underneath this stuff. Apparently moisture gets in the wood when it rains, from underneath the deck (we only sealed top of deck boards), and then it can't dry out due to the thickness of this sealant. You can feel rotten spots in the wood when you walk on it, and several places the sealant has pealed off and you can actually see the wood rot. Our deck had no signs of rotting prior to treating it with this product. I have a large deck and it is going to cost me a fortune to replace all of these boards. I am so upset about this and I don't want anyone else to have to experience this.
