Does this Deck Restore in a can, come ready to roll on my old deck?

My deck is 20 yrs. old and needs a facelift. Has splinters and older boards that are still sturdy but ugly..and I need a product a woman can use..how tuff is this project?..and is it ready to roll on?..hard to roll on, easy to clean up? Drying time? Will I need 2 coats?? Thanks!

Oh yeah.....have it mixed in the paint department to suspend the sand evenly in the bucket from sitting as the sand settles. This key to getting a good consistent finish.

How does this hold up on a deck that has snow on it for 6-7 months a year.

I live in Alaska and am worried about it coming off in chunks after the winter.
Asked by: Anonymous
My experience has been good but I like to sweep the snow off as best I can. If the surface it is applied to is not sanded and prepped well enough for it to bite into the surface it will bubble and lift from prolonged moisture exposure.

If a 4 gallon can covers 100 sq ft., does that mean two coats of 100 sq ft.

I have approximately 400 sq ft to cover. Do I need 4 of these 4 gallon cans or 8 to get two coats of coverage.
Asked by: Ruby
I used every bit of 8 gallons to do a 6' x 28' porch floor. The difficult part is mixing it all together for consistent color on large surfaces...a cheap mud pan will work great with a roller. A lot of it all has to do with weather and how much you press into the roller for application. Furthermore, use the roller designed for this stuff and nothing else and have the paint department mix it up in the shaker for you before you leave the store so the sand is thoroughly mixed and suspended in the mix.

Customer Reviews

4-gal. Russet Deck and Concrete 10X Resurfacer is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent stuff...for real good protection This is as close to truck bed liner as you can get. I called around since you can get these portable truck bed liner guys to spray your porch floor and boats but the price was high...then I saw this stuff in the store and thought it was worth a try. I was able to get a 90 year old 6' x 32' T&G fur porch covered with one heavy coat out of this 4-gallon bucket. Once it cured, I noticed it did need that second coat as stated so I picked up another 4-gallons and man does it look sharp...and it feels like that popular truck bed liner too, for real...this stuff is awesome. I'll recommend this stuff every day of the week too so ignore bad reviews as well because lack of understanding can play into application very easily so educate yourself by visiting the manufacturer's webpage. One thing to understand if you want to give it a go...again, I'll stress this...read the online info on the manufacturer's webpage and do the prep a day or two in advance before purchasing your resurfacer. This stuff has silica sand in it for non slip and binders that will settle to the bottom so it is surely best to spread it freshly mixed from the store for best results...it'll flow better which means you'll get a more even coat with less work. I used a fair amount of upper body to roll it properly like a roller/squeegee too so be be prepared for a nice little workout.....oh, protect area from outdoor critters for 24 hours ( I used HDX 4 ft. x 50 ft. Snow Fence around the area to keep cats off fresh resurfacer) and be sure the weather is perfect too or it will take forever to cure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even better than expected! And I expected a miracle! Really, the pictures explain it all. My husband and I are so impressed with the quality of this product. (If there is a negative review, rest assured that person did not follow simple application instruction.) We started by removing all the old dingy, faded "stain" which had been applied years before. We then replaced all screws with new, proper, deck screws. Then, my husband filled in all the screw heads to ensure a flat surface (he used paintable caulking). We cleaned and waited for the deck to dry. Total prep time: 8 hours. Then, we simply brushed the product onto the railing, and also around the edge of the deck. I guess we kind of "dabbed" it with the brush to get the stippled effect. After this was done, I began rolling (with the black Restore rollers - we used the 9" as they are easier to apply even pressure) the Restore onto the deck boards. I could tell immediately that this was going to be the best decision/investment we had made in a long time. (And, we rent!!! But, we are the best tenants EVER!) Anyway, it looks and feels amazing! We're happy; our landlord cannot believe it. Well here's some pictures... you decide for yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best deck & dock stain/restorer Restored a 850ft wood dock. The new product is the best every. It seals and protects the wood from the wind and rain from the Intracoastal Waterway in Miami Beach. Best of all is non-spill surface improves the safety will getting on and off our boat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Stuff This stuff made an old deck look like new.. Sure beats the price of replacing a whole deck.. Easy to apply, easy clean up and a great finish.. Only draw back is you need good weather. If rain is in the forecast, WAIT.....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted less than a year. We applied this in August of last year, and it didn't make it through a single mild Washington state winter. I first noticed it peeling the following March and am now pulling it up in large pieces. Huge waste of time and several hundred dollars after all the supplies they make you buy. Do not buy this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! We were so impressed with the results of this product after we put it on our front cement steps that we decided to use it on our back deck even though we just painted it with another product. Frustrating at first if you have never applied it before but once you have it is no problem at all. We actually had fun doing this project.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TERRIBLE PRODUCT I FEEL BAD FOR RECOMMENDING THIS PRODUCT FOR OUR DECK. MY HUSBAND HAS SPENT A WHOLE WEEK PUTTING THIS GOOP ON. TERRIBLE COVERAGE, YOU CAN'T GET INTO THE SEAMS OF THE WOOD SO YOU SEE DRIP MARKS EVERYWHERE. ENDED UP SPENDING QUITE A BIT JUST TO GET PROPER COVERAGE. NEEDED WAY MORE THAN RECOMMENDED. HOPE IT HOLDS UP THIS WINTER, NOT USING AGAIN.
