Answer:
I used just under 4 of the big (4 gallon) buckets to cover just over 300 square feet (that's including both coats), so I recommend you get 8 buckets. Bonus: order it online and have it shipped UPS and have them take it on their dolly all the way to your deck when they drop it off, save yourself the backache of moving all those buckets.

Answer:
susie,
Are you using a long enough paddle to reach the bottom of the bucket? I'm not sure on what the issue is, but a durable mixing attachment should be able to suffice given that you have a powerful enough drill. Otherwise we do have larger 5-gallon mixing sticks available at our store for you to use to manually move it about.

Answer:
Restore will adhere to a previously painted surface if properly prepared. All peeling or flaking must be removed by stripping or sanding. Remove any algae, mold or embedded dirt. Glossy surfaces must be sanded. Surfaces that have been previously coated with a stain or water sealer that continue to bead water will require pressure washing or stripping to ensure good adhesion.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I seen the product on tv and gave it a try!!! The product was very easy to use and it performed as advertised! I really love the way my deck looks and it was easy to apply and very easy cleanup!!! I would recommend this to anyone interested in bring new life to your deck!!! Thank you AWESOME Product!!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A good investment to extend the life of your deck I used the Restore product on a 300+ sq. ft. deck that had a deck surface that was at end of life and I’d estimate it added five more useful years of life to the deck. For the relatively small investment in product and application time, it was certainly worth it. I also now have a completely splinter-free, slip-proof, and much more attractive deck surface than before. Believe the coverage rating. I bought four “5 gallon” buckets (they are labeled as 3.72 gallons before tinting, and appear to net out somewhat less than 5, at least for the color I bought), and each bucket is rated for approximately 100 sq. ft. of coverage. Think of it more like roofing tar than paint, it goes on super thick. I got skittish that I might run out and went thinner on the second coat, but then had enough left that I could have done a regulation second coat after all. I used an extremely liberal amount filling large cracks and voids on the first coat, which probably accounts for how I almost used 400 sq. ft. of product per recommended coverage on just over 300 sq. ft. My square footage also included a stairway which probably used more since I fully covered the tread edges as well as surfaces. I fully consumed two of the Restore roller covers. You end up pushing pretty hard on the roller to get good spread and penetration into a rough surface. At the end of each coat, the roller cover started to come apart and left a few chunks of the spongy cover material in the paint, which I mostly picked out (although they blend in with the texture). Plan ahead and get a spare cover if you are doing a large area, save yourself a trip to the store. If you roll quickly you get a decent amount of spray off the roller which will texture vertical surfaces you run up to (and your shoes) if you are not careful. I think if you follow the application directions closely you move pretty slow, but on the second coat I felt like I could go faster and still get coverage, but got spray as a result. When cutting in edges with a brush I realized you can get a much smoother final finish if you brush. If you were to apply by brush or better yet brush over where you just rolled, you can get a smoother finish than the roller finish (which seems pretty rough but is fine on bare feet). Where I did apply exclusively by brush at the edges I noticed it took more applications to hide the underlying wood grain. The gaps between boards on my deck were wide enough that I had no issues with the product bridging or filling the gap. In the product application video and other reviews they talk about having to brush or cut along the gaps to open them up after application, but that was not required at all on my deck. I used a high powered drill with a paddle stirring attachment to stir the product, like you would use for thinset or concrete. I highly recommend that, it took a fair amount of stirring to get a smooth homogenous mix when I started each bucket, and the product only thins to about cake batter consistency so it takes some serious torque to stir a big bucket full. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible The customer service at the local paint dept is wonderful! however this product is HORRIBLE to try and work with!!!! Gumms and Balls up. You end up with patches of heavy silica and patches of no silica just stain or paint which ever! I would never. Sorry WILL never use this product again even if a customer wants to PAY me to install/apply it! (yes, even in this economy!) only glad this was my deck and not a customes! Personally i wish i had never used this product. Just get you some regular water seal and a spray tank and save yourself all the stress!!!! i wish i could rank it lower! vent .....vent .....vent!!!!! Listen or be sorry ;) May 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My deck looks new This product not only renewed my deck it sealed all splinters and cracks. I was very pleased with the non-slip surface it provided when walking an excited 50 lb. dog on a leash in the rain. It really upgraded my deck from functional to nice.If you can paint this is a breeze. Sadly I have no before pictures because it looked so worn. September 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Watch the vidieo This really is a great product so far. Time and weather will tell. Takes a lot to cover. I have a large front porch and went through 8 gals. and that was only the first coat and I still didn't have enough. Need to get twice the amount for the 2nd coat. But considering what it will cost in the future for composite replacement of my porch, this is well worth the price and work. July 18, 2013
