Customer Questions & Answers

Is Primer needed first?

I wish to use Restore to cover the OSB walls in my pole barn. The young men I hired put the walls rough side out with all the manufacturers painted on markings on the walls that I wish to cover. Should I prime the walls first or can I just paint them with 2 coats of Restore?
Asked by: Leslie
For bare wood, including your OSB, ALWAYS prime with an oil-based primer, such as Cover Stain or Kilz. Once you do this, you now have a sealed and proper surface that's ready for whatever top coat over it. Joseph

Can vertical restore be used on garage doors

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello Becca, I called Restore and asked them if they would recommend this product for garage doors. The lady I spoke with said they do not recommend it for that use. The reason being is that the opening and closing of the garage door will cause the paint to come off rather quickly. It is meant for siding and other non-mobile vertical surfaces. Thank you, Christine

Can this product be applied to a small area where paint is peeling from hardiboard siding?

It is an area where rain water tends to hit the roof and splash back against the vertical siding. I have repainted the area twice, but the paint continues to degrade over time. I am hoping the Restore product may prove more durable,
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, Vertical Restore can be used on hardiboard siding.

4-gal. White Vertical Liquid Armor Resurfacer for Walls and Siding is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Simply awful This is pretty much the worst product ever invented. The application process was messy and frustrating and the end result was a drippy saggy finish. We applied this product exactly per instructions and the finish was ridiculous, like the walls had some kind of infection and were oozing. Disgusting. And now? Not even 3 months later and it is chipping and falling off the walls with no provocation. WORST PRODUCT EVER! Please don't waste your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rust-Oleum Restore Works Great! This stuff is like paint with little sand granules in it. I have a 50+ year old patio which the wood is in bad shape. It goes on thick and covers it like a charm. I plan to see what other uses I can find for it. Pretty cool stuff, exactly what I needed. It does require at least 2 coats as per instructions, but still, very good stuff!
