Can this product be used on new pressure treated wood not composite ?
Asked by: Dave
Dave, our Restore 4x Deck Coat may be applied to bare pressure treated wood. We recommend allowing the wood to dry out for a minimum of 6 months prior to application, as new pressure treated wood will often have a moisture content that is too high to allow proper adhesion. If you have access to a moisture meter, ensure that the wood moisture content is below 12% prior to applying any coating to the surface.

Is it waterproof?

Asked by: Luke
Rust-Oleum Restore 4x Deck Coat is a permeable coating which allows the wood to breathe and absorb moisture as well as let the moisture evaporate.

Followed all prep instructions, didn't use the deck for almost a week after just to be on the safe side. Looked amazing for about the 1st couple of months, by the end of summer we already had some small peeling spots that we quickly fixed up. By the time we started winterizing our deck furniture, the paint was peeling more than we could fix and said we would address it in the spring. Fast forward to this spring and I am embarrassed to entertain on my deck because it looks like my deck is 25 years old. This was not a cheap investment in money or time. Home Depot did credit us 1 gallon of the paint, but it does not make up for this disaster in the least. Now Memorial Day is upon us and we are scouring the internet to find a DIY resolution without having to spend thousands to get the professionals out here. All I wanted was a nice looking deck and I have a terrible mess.

Did not cover the way it is supposed to and within 3 months it all peeled off. We followed the manufacturer's deck prep recommendations and this is just garbage. We are now stuck having to peel off all the paint of a huge deck. It's a mess. The most you will get back, if you are lucky, is your money. The mess you will be stuck with. Do yourself a favor..STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!!!

I applied this paint in two layers 5 years ago. Loved it and told everyone. It was expensive but made my deck look fabulous. Fast forward 5 years. I just found a bubble of paint about 12" x 3". Peeled it back and the deck has rotted 1" deep in this entire area. It appears to have cracked from regular sunshine and normal use and trapped water underneath without us knowing. As we look to sell our home this year I am above angry. Now, I get to try to find some way of getting this cement like paint off all the boards as to avoid an entire deck rip out. DEVASTATED to say the very least! Wonder if Restore customer service will respond?!? Would love to hear from someone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute junk Bought last summer and followed every direction when applying. Six months later 40% of it has peeled right off. Tried contacting the company and never got back a single reply. Don't waste your money and more importantly your time.

Apparently the gallon I bought was sitting around for quite sometime because it was so thick, I could barely mix it with a good drill with paddle bit. That was after I had taken it to the store for a good shake!
