Customer Questions & Answers

Do you recommend to put a primer coat on first? If so which one?

Asked by: Braunbears
NO primer coats are needed with epoxy or Polycuramine. Its bullet proof just the way it is when applied to a well cleaned floor. Any primers or old paints on the floor should be stripped with a power washer or rent a diamond grinder from your local HD tool rental. It's worth it.

Can this be used over laminate or formica countertops, instead of epoxy? If so, is it heat resistant?

I saw a youtube video of a guy using this product in metallic to cover a table. I like the metallic, but the color I am looking for is not available. Can I add mica powder, paint, or stain to the clear to make my desired color?
Asked by: Jackie
Sure can if the counter top is sanded well and perfectly flat! This product takes 1 hour to set up as it levels out and it will run very slowly. Will be very shiny as well if that's your desired finish. The flake they give you in the kit is too coarse for a nice finish in a kitchen. You need something finer. Rustoleum has a counter top product for this. John

what is included in the kit?? does it have the flake?

Asked by: trey
Kit includes instructions, 1 foam roller, flake, citrus degreaser and Polycuramine in a 2 part sealed bag. Would recommend purchasing a better 1/4 in nap roller for best results. The thin foam roller included it designed to spread the paint as thin as possible. Believe me your going to want to put down 2 coats to get the best results and cover any thin spots after you put down the first application. Oh, personally I put down some flake over the epoxy repair kit and thought it looked like dirt from a distance. Didn't care for it.

Sanding between coats

If I decide to change colors is it necessary to sand between coats? I usually only have time on the weekends so there is a 7 day lag between coats
Asked by: cloe
If you've decided to change colors, don't even bother. You'll have to rent a diamond grinder from HD and spend a couple of hours on it like I did. The mechanical grinder is a lot of work and takes strong arms and about 3 hours on a 2 1/2 car garage. I replaced the epoxy floor with Polycuramine. Unless your willing to put the time and additional expense into it I would live with the color. Good luck.

Customer Reviews

1 gal. Grey Polycuramine 1 Car Garage Floor Kit is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Workshop Upgrade I've had this floor coating down for about six months in my workshop and couldn't be happier. Application went smoothly and it dried much more quickly than expected. I opted not to use the included color flakes because of advice that they can make small dropped items difficult to find. The floor looks great and made the entire workshop look much more professional. This floor has also made cleaning my work area a breeze, since the smooth finish is easy to sweep and mop. If you take your time and prep the floor correctly this is a great product that will last a very long time

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Gloss Finish To cut right to it, this is was great floor finish and is easy to apply, the prep work however can take time and cost a bit depending how and what you use. I had layers on layers of you name it on the area I finished as it was once closed in as a living space with a vinyl floor. To add damage, to floor was also sealed with I only wished I knew, as we had the diamond grind it three times to remove it, that was on top of multiple times using paint and Adhesive remover. We had cracks and holes from where nails were driven in and the cement itself is like three difference types. One area was like a self leveling top, but it was the cement all the way even after the grindings. Patching was just as bad, as nothing seemed to fill the cracks, just kept running through, so we epoxy crack filler, Polycuramine does not apply to epoxy. That's somewhat the short of the ordeal and I'm very happy with my results, but I was not going for a picture perfect finish to start off, just a workshop floor that was a step above a cement floor but would hold up to paint spills, chemicals and what ever we happen to drop on it. And to that it does with flying color and than some. One small problem we had applying the finish is the roller started to, the foam on it, off about 80% into a 23 by 10 foot area. You will also notices spots in the floor from the patches as it spread fairly even but soaked in difference on the patches and the type or quality of cement, again I'm happy with the product, learned a ton and planed to do the three stalls where the cars go, bu there we will take difference steps to prep as the use and ware will be totally difference. A note, even as glossy as the finish looks, it's not slippery when you walk on it from outside with wet shoes....
