Customer Questions & Answers

This kit says it is a two-pack, does this mean you will receive two 76oz kits? thank you

I need coverage for up to 500 ft2
Asked by: Daniel
Two 76oz kits are included (totaling 152oz). I suggest ordering extra material. I needed 400sf of coverage and had to use five 76oz kits in order to get the whole area covered.

Will this cover the garage floor lip on the exterior or is that a problem?

Asked by: Danny
Happy to help Danny! You will want to stop your installation of Rust-Oleum Rocksolid Garage Floor Coating just before your garage door. This coating is for interior use only as it is not UV resistant.

Will it stick on painted concrete

Will it stick on painted concrete
Asked by: Rose
Happy to help, Rose! Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine Garage Floor Kit is suitable for use over previously coated concrete floors that are in good, sound condition. Please keep in mind that the surface will need to be tested for a sealer and if one is present then it will need to be removed to ensure proper adhesion.

Can i use this product over vinil tiles?

Asked by: Pat
Great question, Pat! Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine Garage Floor Kit works great on vinyl! We recommend that you scuff the surface with either a 60 or 80 grit sandpaper prior to applying the product. After sanding, wipe down the surface with either acetone or MEK (methyl ethyl keytone) before apply the product. Thanks for reaching out!

The amount of material in the bad is not enough to give one coat and get a nice result. In order to have a nice a results like the one in the pictures you will need 3 times that amount to give a generous coat. I'm regret big time buying this product. Is a very dishonest product.

I purchased qty 2 2.5 Car Garage kits and qty 1 1 Car Garage kit. It did provide the coverage I needed, but many areas don't have enough RockSolid coating and you can see the darker color of the cement showing through. The product seems very durable, but you can see from what I purchased the specs on coverage are incorrect. Best I can tell, you would need a 2.5 Car Garage kit for EACH single car garage, if you want it to look right. And yes, I did all the prep work as well. It was a brand new house with very little wear on the floor, scrubbed it clean and perform the itching per the instructions. I had used the standard Rust-Oleum Epoxy coating in my previous house which is 1/3 of the price, and it lasted for 13 years until we moved out. Save spending the extrx bucks on the RockSolid and go with standard epoxy.

Dusappointed that I had to purchase the one car size product to supplement the previously purchased 2.5 car garage size which did not cover a 2 car garage. Initial 2.5 garage purchase had to be returned as it was burst inside box. The finished floor is nice but expensive. Three trips.

While this "RockSolid" looks pretty good on the floor, it was much more difficult to apply than the product we used to seal our floors at our previous house. The directions tell you that the drying time is 45 minutes so we did try to time ourselves. Even before the 45 minute time was up, the paint thickened and was very difficult to spread properly, even "puddling" in a couple of spots. The product is packaged in two sets of 2 bladders (epoxy to be mixed immediately prior to use). When we mixed the second set, we were especially careful with timing but it still dried faster than the 45 minutes allotted. We also had a problem with leakage (package was wet on outside prior to opening) and had to return to Home Depot to exchange it. When we got home with second package, we found the other bladder had leaked and we had to go back again. Home Depot worked with us to make the exchange but having to go back to them twice for exchanges (12 miles one way) really caused a lot of stress for us. I did call the 800 number to voice my concerns about drying time for this product, even suggested the manufacturer considers packaging in 3 parts instead of 2 but the telephone attendant who took my call seemed interested only in telling me how wonderful the product is and my complaint and suggestion fell on "deaf ears", I fear. All in all, we would still buy this product but would give it a 75% rating if asked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard High Gloss Finish Concrete floor preparation was fairly straight forward. The kit comes with concrete etching solution to be applied prior to coating. Let the slab dry thoroughly. The pictures show an existing small crack in the slab. I did not fill this crack prior to application. I recommend that all cracks, however minor, be filled prior to applying the coating. Coating went on fairly easy. Spend some time going over the area you are coating for a uniform finish. Have a send roller standing by...the chemicals in the coating react with the roller after a while and cause the foam to come off the roller core. Sprinkle a small amount of chips at a time. You can always go back and add more. Nice finish...I was impressed. Note on the video how an untreated crack comes out in the final finish.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to Apply & Looks Great Using this product is as easy as applying paint. Surface preparation is where most of the work takes place. My garage had five years of traffic. I had to power wash, degrease, and acid etch. On top of that I had to wait for the concrete to fully dry. I only did a portion of my garage because the bag burst from the heat. I lost a good portion of the contents so I only did the top landing beyond the tire stop. If you plan to use this, don't buy it until you are 100% ready to start the project. RockSolid garage coating can transform a garage and make it look like an extension of your home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Garage floor looks much nicer than before! I set aside a weekend to do this project, and I carefully read and re-read the directions out of the box. This is something you want to make sure you have time for, and make sure to follow the steps exactly. I did have a few oil stains that I had to clean up before applying the product. The etching process helped remove the last bit that I couldn't get up, and then I was prepared to finish the rest. I was able to evenly coat my garage floor with the amount provided in the box, and when it dried I was extremely pleased with the results. It really does look high-end, and I saved possibly hundreds of dollars compared to having a professional company come do it. You really can do it yourself with this kit, as long as you can follow directions it will come out looking professional. I would highly recommend this product if you would like to improve the look of your garage floor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product, but order extra I decided to coat my garage floor (about 400sf) with this epoxy. Since this is a 2-pack of 76oz bags and after looking at the Rustoleum Support answer to a customer question on coverage, I figured this would be enough to do the job (advertised 500sf of coverage for the 2-pack). I was very disappointed when I only received about 200sf of coverage with the 152oz of epoxy. I contacted Rustoleum and as a gesture of goodwill, they sent me an additional 2-pack at no cost to finish my garage. It still wasn't quite enough, so I ordered a 1-pack from another company. My finished garage floor is completely covered now, but since I had to apply the coating in three stages, I have miscoloring and some off-looking patches. The product is obviously good, it just didn't cover nearly enough ground as I expected. If you want to use this product, I highly recommend ordering 2-3 times what you think you need so you don't need to wait for shipping (expedited shipping isn't available through Home Depot) and knock out your whole floor in one go. Home Depot lets you return online purchases in store too. I haven't seen the Rocksolid product line in stores so if you run out in the middle of application, you're stuck waiting for shipping. As for application, I'd recommend the following steps: 1. Prepare your floor per instructions included in kit (remove oil stains and use etching mix provided). 2. Following instructions in the kit, apply a thin layer over your entire floor and let it cure for 24 hours. By "thin" I mean the roller should sound sticky instead of wet when rolling the floor. 3. Perform a light sanding (60-80 grit sandpaper) on the thin layer in order to provide a rough surface for the next coat. 4. As you did with the first coat, apply a thick coat on the entire floor. By "thick" I mean the roller should sound wet during the whole application. This may not be the best way, but I tried doing just one thick coat on my whole garage floor and due to natural cracks in concrete there were cracks in the epoxy that showed after it dried. This required me to sand those areas and apply additional epoxy, which is another reason why my finished floor has some miscoloring and off-looking patches.
