Customer Questions & Answers

This kit says it is a two-pack, does this mean you will receive two 76oz kits? thank you

I need coverage for up to 500 ft2
Asked by: Daniel
Two 76oz kits are included (totaling 152oz). I suggest ordering extra material. I needed 400sf of coverage and had to use five 76oz kits in order to get the whole area covered.

Can i use this product over vinil tiles?

Asked by: Pat
Great question, Pat! Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine Garage Floor Kit works great on vinyl! We recommend that you scuff the surface with either a 60 or 80 grit sandpaper prior to applying the product. After sanding, wipe down the surface with either acetone or MEK (methyl ethyl keytone) before apply the product. Thanks for reaching out!

Can this be used on vertical surfaces? ie walls

Asked by: john
Rustoleum RockSolid Garage Floor Kit is designed for horizontal surfaces. Applying the product to a vertical surface will not allow the product to create an even/uniform look. If applied too heavily the product may also sag with this type of application.

If cement floor was sealed will this stick to the cement with no problems

Asked by: BA
No, if the floor is sealed, the sealer will have to be removed by etching, grinding, or shot blasting. Before applying Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine Coating to the floor sand the entire surface with a 60 grit sandpaper to ensure proper adhesion.

76 oz. Mocha Polycuramine 1 Car Garage Floor Kit (2-Pack) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to Apply & Looks Great Using this product is as easy as applying paint. Surface preparation is where most of the work takes place. My garage had five years of traffic. I had to power wash, degrease, and acid etch. On top of that I had to wait for the concrete to fully dry. I only did a portion of my garage because the bag burst from the heat. I lost a good portion of the contents so I only did the top landing beyond the tire stop. If you plan to use this, don't buy it until you are 100% ready to start the project. RockSolid garage coating can transform a garage and make it look like an extension of your home.

The amount of material in the bad is not enough to give one coat and get a nice result. In order to have a nice a results like the one in the pictures you will need 3 times that amount to give a generous coat. I'm regret big time buying this product. Is a very dishonest product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard High Gloss Finish Concrete floor preparation was fairly straight forward. The kit comes with concrete etching solution to be applied prior to coating. Let the slab dry thoroughly. The pictures show an existing small crack in the slab. I did not fill this crack prior to application. I recommend that all cracks, however minor, be filled prior to applying the coating. Coating went on fairly easy. Spend some time going over the area you are coating for a uniform finish. Have a send roller standing by...the chemicals in the coating react with the roller after a while and cause the foam to come off the roller core. Sprinkle a small amount of chips at a time. You can always go back and add more. Nice finish...I was impressed. Note on the video how an untreated crack comes out in the final finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Garage floor looks much nicer than before! I set aside a weekend to do this project, and I carefully read and re-read the directions out of the box. This is something you want to make sure you have time for, and make sure to follow the steps exactly. I did have a few oil stains that I had to clean up before applying the product. The etching process helped remove the last bit that I couldn't get up, and then I was prepared to finish the rest. I was able to evenly coat my garage floor with the amount provided in the box, and when it dried I was extremely pleased with the results. It really does look high-end, and I saved possibly hundreds of dollars compared to having a professional company come do it. You really can do it yourself with this kit, as long as you can follow directions it will come out looking professional. I would highly recommend this product if you would like to improve the look of your garage floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes your garage floor look great! This kit is awesome! It's a complete kit that comes in nicely wrapped pouches of material. I had to make sure the floor was super clean before applying the Garage Floor Finish. I pressure washed it and made sure it was extra clean in the corners. I then let it dry and did my best to keep the dust/debris from blowing into the garage. I highly recommend that you tape off the area where you don't want this stuff to stick to. Taping also gives it a professional look, with nice tight lines. The color is a nice sandy tan with chunks of accent colors (which you add). It actually makes our garage look so clean. It also makes it a nice place to sit vs the concrete floor. The coverage seems to be a little less than a one car garage. Overall, I am thrilled with the way this Garage Floor material works. My garage floor looks awesome!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product, but order extra I decided to coat my garage floor (about 400sf) with this epoxy. Since this is a 2-pack of 76oz bags and after looking at the Rustoleum Support answer to a customer question on coverage, I figured this would be enough to do the job (advertised 500sf of coverage for the 2-pack). I was very disappointed when I only received about 200sf of coverage with the 152oz of epoxy. I contacted Rustoleum and as a gesture of goodwill, they sent me an additional 2-pack at no cost to finish my garage. It still wasn't quite enough, so I ordered a 1-pack from another company. My finished garage floor is completely covered now, but since I had to apply the coating in three stages, I have miscoloring and some off-looking patches. The product is obviously good, it just didn't cover nearly enough ground as I expected. If you want to use this product, I highly recommend ordering 2-3 times what you think you need so you don't need to wait for shipping (expedited shipping isn't available through Home Depot) and knock out your whole floor in one go. Home Depot lets you return online purchases in store too. I haven't seen the Rocksolid product line in stores so if you run out in the middle of application, you're stuck waiting for shipping. As for application, I'd recommend the following steps: 1. Prepare your floor per instructions included in kit (remove oil stains and use etching mix provided). 2. Following instructions in the kit, apply a thin layer over your entire floor and let it cure for 24 hours. By "thin" I mean the roller should sound sticky instead of wet when rolling the floor. 3. Perform a light sanding (60-80 grit sandpaper) on the thin layer in order to provide a rough surface for the next coat. 4. As you did with the first coat, apply a thick coat on the entire floor. By "thick" I mean the roller should sound wet during the whole application. This may not be the best way, but I tried doing just one thick coat on my whole garage floor and due to natural cracks in concrete there were cracks in the epoxy that showed after it dried. This required me to sand those areas and apply additional epoxy, which is another reason why my finished floor has some miscoloring and off-looking patches.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Didn't get enough coverage Used this in an interior room on a very solid, very smooth non-porous concrete floor, 215 sq. feet. The stated coverage is up to 250 sq. ft.. Because of those reasons I thought I wouldn't have any problem. There's really not a lot of product in the package. That made me nervous to start out with. Plus you only have an hour to work with it which I didn't think would be a problem either. The cooler your room the longer the pot life. My room was only 68 degrees which I thought would be ideal. I only got 185 sq. ft. of coverage before I ran out. The product is very thick and very sticky. You get a foam roller cover with the kit. Because of how thick and sticky the paint is it kept pulling the cover off of the roller, which was a high quality roller I used. It was very hard to spread and you would really have to spread it super thin to get the stated coverage. The more time that passed the thicker and stickier and harder to spread it got. It took me about 50 min. to get the 185 sq. ft. done before I ran out. A lot of the time was spent trying to cut in around the walls with the brush because of how thick it was. In my opinion, for as thin as I felt I spread the product, I should have at least been able to finish the 215 sq. ft. that I have. I ordered another kit to do the 30 sq. ft. I have left. On the other hand, I've worked with epoxy floor paints quite a few times before and I could tell this was different and it seems that it most likely will hold up better than the others. I would recommend it based on that, I just believe they need to either give you more product or drop the stated coverage and for that reason I'm disappointed.
