Can I use it on wood?

While it's been discontinued, I'm curious if this can be used on a wood surface - I'm building a keezer collar and will have a white chest freezer.

Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Epoxy is meant for metal surfaces. We would recommend using Rust-Oleum Ultra Cover 2x for the wood portions of your project. Model # 249090

Hello Karen, Use TSP and 000 Steel Wool to prep the surface. Fresh water rinse and air dry. Then apply Appliance Paint. Spray is also available.

Customer Reviews

Specialty 1 Qt. White Gloss Appliance Epoxy Paint (2-Pack)-DISCONTINUED is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Appliance Epoxy I bought this paint hoping to improve the looks of an old chest freezer I bought for $20....hoping for something that looked a little better than the usual spray paint job. The paint turned out to be about the consistancy of water and it looked about as thin as water when it went on (I used a foam brush) There were wads of bubbles at the ends of the brush strokes that were a little tricky to avoid, and it seemed hard to get the paint to lay on evenly. But after it had dried...WOW! No trace of uneveness or dried to a nearly perfect finish! After a second coat it looks like a brand new freezer, if you don't look at the few dents it came with! I would definitely recommend this paint and plan on using it on my second hand fridge too...which someone before me made a mess of using canned spray paint. There wasn't a lot of rust on my freezer....what was there it covered just fine, but heavier rust would probably need more than 2 coats to cover.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's very easy to bring your refrigerator back to life with this paint I was amazed how easy this product was to apply and with excellent results. I used a 5 inch spong roller and it worked beautifully with no streaks or uneven areas. This frig had rust coming through the side walls. I treated it with a rust inhibitor and then gave it the first coat, let it dry for an hour and then gave it a second coat. I waited two days before I closed the doors and there was no sticking at all. It dryed to a hard glossy finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent to make an old item look new I bought this to paint an old shower stall. The shower stall is about 40 years old and is structurally sound but was discolored just due to age. There was a small amount of rust on the screws holding it together. (The shower stall is not fiberglass - it is just thick plastic.) The epoxy paint went on evenly and easily. It stuck to the shower stall really well. It was very easy to paint. Now the shower stall looks as good as brand new! It really looks great. I saved a bundle of money by not buying a new shower stall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! I wanted to paint a rusted, older refrigerator in a house that we rent, so I didn't want to spend a lot. After finding lots of options for spray paint (who is going to haul their major appliance outdoors to spray paint it?!), I found this roll-on appliance paint from Rust-Oleum. I was skeptical, but rolled on the first coat and WOW what a difference! After applying a second coat, it looked absolutely brand new. Our landlady came over for dinner the other night and was amazed at how good her old fridge looked. I would recommend it to anyone looking to refurbish an older appliance.
