We do not recommend tinting Rust-Oleum Plastic Primer. Doing so may interfere with the properties and affect the products consistency and dry time. For a primer that can be tinted and works on plastic, use Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3. This product can be tinted with up to 2 ounces of universal tint per gallon. Read More

I have a 50's bathroom with walls covered with a (I've been told) fiber reinforced plastic top layer laminate. It is so securely glued in, nothing wrong with it except that it is UGLY. I have no skills or funds to tear it out, because I've been told that would include removed lath and plaster behind it. I am looking for a paint that will adhere to "marlite" and withstand moisture. Thank you!

Answer:
Great Question! Rust-Oleum Specialty Plastic Primer is not recommended for a marlite surface as it will not stick properly. Instead, consider using Zinsser Bondz Maximum Adhesion Primer for your application. Please keep in mind that this primer will not stop water coming through the surface, but it will help protect from the moisture coming from the top of the paint Read More

I just got a new door and didn't realize the mullions were plastic. They have to be painted the HOA approved color. Can I use any brand of paint for the color coat or is there a Rustoleum base color that the paint department can mix for me to match the approved color?

Answer:
Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Door Paint may be a good option for your door. We recommend first priming the door with Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer for All Surfaces so that the Door paint will adhere to the plastic surfaces. Please see the link below for more information on the door paint:
