Customer Questions & Answers

Will this paint stick to ceramic tile? I can't afford the tile kit

Asked by: jeff
don't use the tub and tile spray paint , way over priced , lousy coverage , dries rough not smooth , sandy feeling orange peel . I JUST tried painting a tub with that garbage .... waste of time and money ..... Scuff the tile with a good sandpaper , prime with oil primer , then paint with appliance epoxy , will work better , you MIGHT be able to omit the primer , I do not know , I primed the tile , but you MUST scuff the tile , you MUST have microscopic scratches , and THAT is the very hard part .... "prep" is everything , clean and scuff well

Can I use this on the outside of my stove

Asked by: Dondon
Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Epoxy is fine to use on the stove; however, we do not recommend the product on the stove top due to the temperatures and your stove top is considered a direct heat. Our products can be used on an indirect heat surface.

Can this be used on the outside front staircase railings?

Asked by: Billfury
Great question, Bill! Since Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Paint is an epoxy coating we do not recommend it for exterior use since the UV rays will yellow the coating. My wife would cover the spots with family photos. I first used an orbital sander to remove the major rust, then masked off the bits that I didn't want paint on - then used a primer the prepare the surface. I wasn't certain that the rust-oleum would adhere to the primer but it appears to. I applied the Appliance Paint with a 4 inch roller. It went on smooth & easy leaving an orange peel surface, must like the original finish. As per the label, it was dry to the touch in two hours. I waited 24 hours to apply a 2nd coat. It dried even better, adhering to the surface perfectly, as if it was sprayed on. I highly recommend this product.

Old refrigerator worked perfectly but exterior was pitted, stained and had rust spots. I thought i would try to paint it before getting a new appliance. Paint was extraordinary. Washed down the fridge with soap and water and applied the paint with a soft 6" roller. I also bought some small 1" brushes to do next to the handles. One coat does it with some touch up over the big stains and rust spots. Looks brand new. About 1/2 a quart is enough for a refrigerator. Highly recommend product.
