I was doing remodeling job where we were walling over some windows on the inside, but you would still see the windows on the outside of the house. So I wanted them to just appear frosted from the outside so that you couldn't see there was a wall behind them.
Application is easy as long as you keep a few things in mind. It doesn't spray as thick and concentrated as spray paint. It comes out in a lighter mist and produces a big cloud. So you need to tape well to prevent it from getting on what you don't want. Make sure you have very good ventilation and I would suggest wearing a mask. Lastly, you will need many coats - it took me 6.
As it goes on and is wet it looks clear, but it dries frosted.
I'm very happy with the results. It ended up using 1 can and 1 coat from a second can. If I would have used the film/linings for the windows it would have cost me at least $80.

I had been plagued with ravens seeing their reflection in my basement windows and other methods had not worked (aluminum foil strips and reflective strips for birds). So, I used this spray paint on the windows after taping off the window frames. It worked great! No more ravens tearing out the screens! Success! I highly recommend this spray paint!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PhoenixBird Fabulous! Provides the privacy I needed!
Cheap, easy to use and provides the privacy I needed for a huge sliding glass door. No longer do I have to worry about prying eyes from BAH neighbors and those walking by peering over the privacy fence. It still allows enough light in (with my vertical blinds open). The only recommendation I have is to spray evenly and let it dry before reapplying. It's a bit difficult (at first) to figure out how opaque this will be unless you let it dry completely between coats.
I left about 20% of the upper windows unfrosted so I can the sky (rain, snow, etc). Also, the smell is horrible/strong but just leave the house for a couple of hours with a fan ventilating and it'll be ok.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by mattie180 Application uneven, spray can causes droplets while applying
Very disappointed with this product. I have a 3 panel bay window that I am frosting. For 2 of the panels, I used a competitor brand (because it was in stock at a HD competitor). Yesterday I was at Home Depot for other errands and needed more frosting, so I picked up the Rustoleum brand thinking it would be a similar application. Not even close! While I was spraying the panel, the can application was awful and caused droplets below the level I was spraying. I now have a window that looks splattered and terrible. Because I was going to have to remove and redo I decided to try a different can in case it was a fluke. It was not. My "brushstrokes" were horizontal, about 14" long - the other brand was SO MUCH easier to use. It was not uneven at all. Now I need to start from scratch for the 3rd panel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dan Works perfectly
I've used this in two different houses. If I have a window that looks right at a house next door, I write it off and frost it over.
You need to clean the glass first, and then use it like any other spray paint. Do very thin layers, and figure on a few coats. It's not hard to do.
I've never had a problem with it coming off. I don't know why everyone is scratching at their windows so much to begin with. It sounds like the problem is really with them...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GermantownMDMom Great Product and it's Easy to use!
We decided to use Rustoleum's Frosted Glass spray paint for our oval window in one of our bathrooms. We taped up the edges and the trim around the window, cleaned the window thoroughly with window cleaner, let it dry for 5 minutes and then started frosting. It was so easy! The spray paint smells terrible so make sure you have a nose mask and good ventilation. We did 4 light coats on our window and allowed each coat to dry for 10 minutes before applying the next coat. The window looks absolutely perfect. Tomorrow we're going to do a really cool frosted design on our sliding glass doors for privacy from our neighbors. Great product!

I used this spray on the inside of a double bathroom window. I cleaned the windows 1st with water and vinegar (1oz Vin to 1gal H2o), let them dry after wiping them down with a lint-free towel. Spray from Left to Right using light coats each time and let it dry between each coat for 20 to 30 minutes. Goes on some what clear and dries frosted. "Do Not" spray on heavy! I applied 6 coats on a double window that was approximately 24" x 30" total size and had about a 1/3 of a can left over. "Make Sure You Have Adequate Ventilation !!! " as the fumes are quite strong. Consider using a dust mask. "This is an Excellent Product" if applied correctly.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Florida It works, but...
I have double glass doors at my front entryway and I wanted to add privacy. The doors already had a 'frosted' design on them, but they were still very see-through. That said, this product does not give a uniform application. Because my windows already had a design it is not terribly noticeable. However on a plain glass surface, the uneven application will be noticeable. I used the entire can to complete my doors and the result is what I was looking for. You cannot see through the doors at all (I checked at day and at night with the lights on). The fumes are very noxious. Please use this product with either a respirator, outside, or in a very well ventilated area. I opened every window/patio door in my house and the fumes were still strong. Also, this stuff gives off a TON of fine white dust. Cover your furniture and any nearby items before you begin spraying this product. I had a fine white dust on the floor that required lots of mopping to remove. Once the spraying is complete, running your hand over the glass will also produce white dust. I just applied the product last night, so tonight I will wipe the doors down with a dry cloth to remove some of the residue. I am not sure how well the product will hold up over time, so I may spray a sealant over it for added protection from scratches, etc. I scored this item with a 3 because it took a LOT of coats to produce the effect I was looking for, and with the fumes and dust, it was a hassle to complete. I'm happy with the results, though.
