Answer:
Great questions, Betsy! Rust-Oleum Specialty Metallic Spray is suitable for surfaces that do not come into direct contact with an open flame and stay below 200 degrees. Exposure to higher heats may cause the product to peel.

I did use the gold spray paint to paint some wooden frames. But they seems like easily scratched. Any recommendation? Should I try something like protective paint?

Answer:
A clear coat or protective finish is not recommended for application of Rust-Oleum Specialty Metallic Spray Paint. Applying a clear coat will dull the metallic finish. For a more durable gold spray paint that can be clear coated, use Universal Metallic Spray Paint, this product is non-leafing, so it can be top coated without dulling. Read More

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 40 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for crafting! I used this spray paint to paint wine bottles to use as vases for a party I was hosting. I was easily able to cover the bottles in 1-2 coats. The result was superb and looked very sharp. This is a metallic gold and really had a good shine and sparkle to it! I was able to cover 9 wine bottles, a small glass liquor bottle and a 12x12" canvas, and I had about half a can left! My only complaint is that when the wine bottles rubbed together or were scratched the paint came off a bit. This is probably because it's not ideal for using on glass. June 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Gold! While this is not as metallic as the lid, it's a pretty gold! I would say if you want it more like the lid, go with Brass in this brand, instead of gold. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good paint for brass I used this paint to cover a tarnished brass plated frame where the finish was wearing off. I would have preferred the brass colored paint but you can't buy it in the store. February 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Perfect and TRUE Metallic color - didn't get dull like other brands I've used. June 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty metallic gold Spray covers easily and sticks well. Good price too! July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect gold Perfect gold not too brassy or cheesy this is the best bang for your buck May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect matte gold Easy to use, great coverage. Works well on composite resin, glass and wood. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by True, Shimmering Gold I had a few items around my house that I wanted to update with a true gold finish, so I bought this spray paint as well as the "Metallic Pure Gold" also made by Rustoleum. This is far and away a much "truer" gold. The other color bordered on bronze, had very little shimmer, and was much flatter in color. (Looks exactly like the color on the lid). This also has great, forgiving coverage. When I was done, the items literally looked as though I'd dipped them in liquid gold. Much easier than gold leaf paint, and just as good. If you'd like to make like King Midas and gilt items around your house, this is the spray paint for you. January 21, 2014
