Answer:
Howdy NK,
This paint won't shine like the chrome of taps in bathrooms.
A tried a true option would be to use a cleaner such as CLR to get rid of rust or other sediment buildup.
The other option would be to replace the taps themselves.
Happy cleaning,

I'm looking for a metallic paint that I can use on pvc pipes for a prop that I'm making. Just need something cheap and color that will "pop" on stage for a dance prop.

Answer:
Rust-Oleum Specialty Metallic Spray is not formulated to adhere to a plastic surface. We recommend priming your PVC first with Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Universal Bonding Primer. Once that has dried then you can apply the Metallic Spray to the surface.

Jose, we do not recommend applying Rust-Oleum Specialty Metallic Spray Paint to candles. This product is not designed to withstand temperatures over 200 °F or come into direct contact with flames. It is also not intended to adhere to wax surfaces.

Answer:
Rust-Oleum Specialty Metallic Spray Paints are bright and shiny metallic finished. If you desire more of a brushed or muted silver take a look at the Rust-Oleum Universal Metallic product line. There are a few silver tones that we think will fit what you are looking for better than the Specialty Metallic.

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by True to cap color This goes on great and dries quick. Much better than other always I've used. The final result is silver, just like the can says. Easy to use. July 19, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible The color is excellent. The problem is the 24 hour dry time. I recommend the 2x which is quick drying. The local Home Depot doesn't carry the 2x. I only recommend this paint if you're not in a hurry. I also purchased the Gold which I am going to return. May 4, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Go for the Rust-Oleum in the white can So, it was deciding between the Rust-Oleum Metallic Specialty(can above) or the Rust-Oleum Bright Coat Metallic(plain white can). I wasn't sure what the difference was, being that both cans had the same shiny chrome cap. The only difference was the looks of the can. One of the employees tested them out for me, but I still couldn't really see much of a difference, however, i thought maybe it was due to him testing them on a piece of cardboard. So, that being said, I decided to go with the one in the plain white can (Rust-Oleum Bright Coat Metallic Finish). I was SO pleased with the results! I couldn't believe how shiny it came out! But it still needed one more coat and I had ran out of paint so I needed to go back for one more, and stupid me, decided to purchase the Specialty Metallic this time, thinking it would probably be EVEN MORE shiny. NOPE, it was a dull finish. My advise is to go for the one in the white can! It works awesome! FYI-The more coats you spray, the shinier and better it looks..suggest 5 coats or so. April 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great paint and color The paint went on nice with several thin coats. Dried to a beautiful SILVER finish as expected. This is not glossy chrome as one reviewer commented. Don't understand her rating SILVER paint so low. If you want SILVER, buy this one, it's a beautiful color. If you want a chrome finish then buy a different one - February 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not the true chrome color or reflection Rustoleum Speality Metalic. This product that has a cap that looks chrome. THE PRODUCT IS DECEIVING!!!!!!! When sprayed it turns to silver/gray with no reflection as a chrome would have. IT SHOULD SAY GRAY/SILVER. It certainly IS NOT CHROME. May 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My amazing dragon!!!!! This spray paint is the one!!! My son made an amazing dragon out of clay and be wanted to spray paint it. So I went to Home Depot and got him this. Once he was done spray painting he showed it to me and it looks amazing. He said everyone at his school loved it!!!!!!! :) December 9, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Despite the cap's color, this is not chrome I bought this off the shelf after looking a long time for the one that's actually called "chrome," and not finding it. The cap on this spraypaint is absolutely a bright, clear chrome, but the paint itself is just metallic silver, much darker than chrome. September 17, 2013
