Painting over an old 'plastic' tub/shower wall insert.

Have an old vacation trailer with serviceable tub/shower insert surround. Wife want's a new color. I want 'cheap' fix. We only use it a few months per year. After painting I'll recaulk with 100% silicone.
Asked by: Ron
This is not made for the use you describe. If you decide to paint it with this, just figure that you will be painting it again. If it is just used occasionally, this might be OK.

No one has almond or bisque colored washer and dryers, so to replace mine I thought I would buy new white ones and use your appliance epoxy spray paint. I am concerned that the reviews are mixed using this product, with uneven coverage or not a smooth finish. Can a like-new appliace finish be acquired with this product? I am also wondering if this paint will hold up to the mild heat the exterior cabinet of the dryer would have when in operation. Could the inside of the lid of the wash machine also be sprayed and hold up being exposed to water and suds? Does this paint hold up/durable to not be scratched off say a laundry basket is moved on top of the appliance? I'm a senior woman that can't afford to mess this up and would greatly appreciate your honest opinion and direction on this matter. Most Sincerely- GM

Thank you for reaching out! To help ensure an even and smooth finish, it is essential to follow all prep and application instructions. The surface needs to be clean and dry at the time of application, glossy surfaces will also need to be lightly sanded. Your application should be done in a well-ventilated area where there is not a lot of wind or dust. It will be important to thoroughly shake the can prior to application, as well as often to help ensure that there is no settled pigment. The can needs to be held upright 12-16" from the surface and sprayed in a steady back and forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. We recommend keeping the can in motion while spraying and applying light even coats a few minutes apart. We do not recommend this product for use on the interior or a washer or dryer due to the high humidity and exposure to water. The coating will not hold up to this type of environment. Once fully cured, our Appliance Epoxy Spray will provide a hard and durable finish.

Can this product be used I'd wooden cabinets and doors?

Asked by: SkinnyGirl
You would probably need to use a good primer. This is a high gloss paint, like the new paint on an appliance or a car. I don't know if the finish would look appropriate on wood.

I am unable to move appliance outdoors, to avoid overspray can this be applied to a sponge brush?

Asked by: CondoOwner
This is in a spray can. You may want to use rustoleum paint in a can. I would use a high quality brush, but a sponge brush might work. Try it on a place that you can not normally see, and determine if you like the results. You may want to thin it a little.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best finish available from a spray can. I use this product to refinish metal bifold doors and baseboard radiators for my public housing apartments. It is easy to apply and super durable. It doesn't require any primer, but surface prep matters, clean all grease old wax or dirt away thoroughly. Wearing a resparator is a must. Drying time with normal temps and humidity requires a full 24hrs, so if that's not acceptable, look elswhere! Still, the wait is worth it, nice high gloss finish, long lasting and durable. Wish they offered more colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dryer looks like new! I have an older dryer that the paint was scratched, faded, and chalky. I used the "Biscuit" color, which is a popular color now. I cleaned the cabinet with scouring powder and a green scrub pad, then used lacquer thinner to give it a final cleaning. I did some sanding on rough areas. I used about one and a half cans to paint it. It is a heavy body paint and does not run as easily as other brands. It is important to move the can in an even motion keeping a constant distance from the surface. Overlap the spray by at least 1/3. The dryer looks great now. One thing I did was give the dryer a very light coat and let it dry for 5 minutes before spraying the final coat. It helps the paint stick better. The paint is even and very shiny. If you are careful, and apply it properly, you will get a good finish. I painted the dryer in the back yard, so overspray was not a problem. Great price too!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from More trouble than it should be This paint is very different than most spray paints. It comes out in a heavy mist but hardly covers the appliance you are spraying. It creates a huge thick cloud worse than normal. Directions suggest an open garage. Everything in the garage with have over spray no matter how far away and it will not come off. After several cans the appliance looks like it came that color from the factory until you stop and look at it from the sides. The finish is very uneven. Parts are glossy, parts are flat. I don't see why you can't use a can of Satin paint that is cheaper, applies better, less over spray and over spray that can be wiped clean, and an even coat. I now have to figure out how i am going to even out the finish. I tried sanding and putting another light coat with same botchy finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than regular paint, epoxy sticks to anything. This paint selected to resurface large parrot cages. Will not allow the frames to rust if applied properly even though they see occasional water from a bird taking a bath or the bird playing in the water. The bird droppings are like cement when dry so the paint has to be able to take an occasional pressure washing without loosing integrity. Should last for years.
