CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Product But With Some Caveats I purchased this product to frost a decorative round bathroom window so that we could get rid of the blinds. We wanted to open up the room and provide more light but provide privacy at the same time. It's *significantly* faster to apply than cut and stick film alternatives. However, there are a few warnings: 1. Both front and back glass surfaces should be absolutely free of any blemishes, dirt and paint spots. In our case, the inside glass, where we applied the frost, was clean however the outside glass had some dirt/paint marks that was not removed when the outside of the house was painted. The frost will NOT cover those spots and they show up as dark spots and are quite noticeable once the frost is applied. Since this window is 20ft off the ground, we'll have to wait until we can get a tall ladder to clean the outside of that window. 2. It's very difficult to get a smooth, unblemished finish. No matter how much you try and spray in even lines, there will be spots where the frost looks thicker than other spots. However, it's really only noticeable when bright light shines through. Not a show stopper. However, for this reason, I would be hesitant to use this spray on a large area (like the outside of shower doors). Works best for small areas like window panes or french doors. 3. The smell when applying is *very* strong. Use with lots of ventilation. In the bathroom, I put a box fan in another window and exhausted the fumes out the window while applying. Close the bathroom door(s) and turn on the bathroom vent while using. If you have a painters mask, I'd suggest wearing it. If you can do this outside, make absolutely sure you pick an area that is free of any debris that may be kicked up by a breeze. One speck of dirt and you'll have to remove everything and start over. If you're spraying indoors, open windows and vent out. Doing this, it will keep the smell out of the rest of the house and will dissipate within 10-15 minutes. Otherwise, the entire house will smell like eye burning, gagging wet spray paint for HOURS. 3. The instructions on the can recommend using lacquer thinner or other such strong chemical to remove the frost once applied and dry. A MUCH faster and easier way is to just use a razor blade. It will scrape right off and save you the mess using nasty chemicals. 4. Once applied, DO NOT RUB the surface with *anything*. It will leave a smooth spot and you'll have to scrape everything off and start all over again. For this reason, I would not recommend this product on any surface that will be touched or in contact with any other surface. Any blemishes do not cover well with a respray. Cover evenly the first time or you'll have to do it all over again. 5. And finally, if you need to caulk the windows, DO THIS FIRST. Trust me on this. If the caulk overflow gets on the frost, it's impossible to remove without rubbing and leaving a smooth spot (see #4) above. The jury is still out how well this frost will work over the long term but it's a cheap, fast way to frost your windows and using a razor, fast to reapply. I would NOT recommend using this on the outside surface of any window since it'll be exposed to the elements and I suspect it will not hold up well. Keeping these points in mind, I think you'll find this product to work well to quickly frost your windows. Once applied, it's just as effective (for privacy) as film applied frost (only vague shadows of what's on the other side is visible), but with significantly less work and time. September 5, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Practically Goof Proof I used the flat frosted glass spray paint for a craft project and it was so easy and turned out so great. I sprayed mason jars before decorating them and had people asking if I special ordered the jars that way. Nothing makes me happier than having people NOT be able to tell that I made something. Rated 1 out of 5 by This did not work for me I bought two cans to cover old mirror closet doors and give them a japanese shoji screen look but my project was a bust when the frosting barely adhered to the mirror. I made sure the surface was very clean and gave it two good coats. When we handled the mirror to put it back in its frame the frost rubbed off where our fingers were. So, I spent the next 15 minutes wiping the frost off with glass cleaner and paper towels, It only took a little scrubbing and the frost was all off. I was surprised at how easily it came off. Rated 1 out of 5 by Did NOT Frost glass I have used this product before and it worked well if you apply 3 coats. But this time I bought 2 cases of 6 cans each. I used the first 2 cans and it did NOT frost the glass. Very disappointed and returned all 12 cans to the store. January 29, 2013
