Questions & Answers

Will this be okay for my light fixtures

I was wondering if I need to get this paint or if I can use a regular spray paint
Asked by: diymom
Happy to clear things up! Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Ultra Spray is ideal for the exterior of barbecue grills, wood stoves, radiators, fire pits, fireplace screens, automotive parts, and more. Please keep in mind that this product is recommended for use on surfaces that reach temperatures well above 200°F, which the surface does need to be heated to fully cure. Instead, we recommend using any of our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Spray Paints, which may be better-suited for your application. http://www.homedepot.com/b/N-5yc1vZ12kxZ1z10eon/Ntk-All/Ntt-stops%2Brust%2Bgloss%2Bprotective%2Benamel?Ntx=mode+matchall&NCNI-5&experienceName=default

What is the real temperature of this paint? 200F or 1200F?

After reading one question about a range hood, the answer said it could handle up to 200 F. But the product information said it will take up to 1200 F or 648C. So what is it 200F or 1200F?
Asked by: Rottenbob
The can of mine said 1200. If it was me I'd trust the product info. Probably no typos in that.

can this paint be used on a glass front of a dishwasher? Trying to cover up scratches

Asked by: bgr
Glass? I'd pass if it was me. I don't see it holding up for any length of time. Glass is pretty slick stuff.

Would this work on my range hood? My hood is white and new appliances are slate. Do i need the high heat paint or is ?

Asked by: chris
Rust-Oleum High Heat Spray Paint can be used on a range hood. However, it is not necessary. Rust-Oleum Spray Paints will withstand temperatures of up to 200°F. In most cases, a range hood does not reach near that high of a temperature. We recommend using Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint and Primer in One. This product is even available in a slate gray color to match your new appliances. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Universal-12-oz-All-Surface-Gloss-Slate-Gray-Spray-Paint-and-Primer-in-One-Case-of-6-249339/204601981

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Turns tacky, bubbles, sticks once heated I used this product to refurbish a coffee warming plate. Max temp is 185°F. Looked great after spraying. Let it dry while heating the plate to temp about 15-20 times over 36 hrs. Smoked everytime is was heated. Put the carafe on it after the 36hrs. It still got tacky, and stuck to the carafe peeling off the plate. Sanded it off the plate, repainted for a second time. Let it cure for a week. Heated it. It bubbled up and liquified becoming super tacky and sticky once hot. And yes smoked like the Dickens. Once cooled it was hard again. Reheated the plate, smoked and boiled up again. And I know how to paint, I paint million dollar yachts and do high end finish work. The fault is not my prep, it's the paint. Returning for refund.
