Answer:
This product will apply well to any surface. However, the important point is that chalk will not work well on anything but a very, very smooth surface. Knock-down, stippled or even semi-smooth orange peel surfaces are not chalk friendly.
A foam brush gave me the best result. A high quality, high density roller I tried left an orange peel surface.

Answer:
It would be best to use it on as smooth as surface as possible so maybe if you sanded it down a little it would be okay. Also, you need to do at least 2 coats of primer on it first. We used it on plywood and a thick particle board. It is best to use a foam roller to apply it as a brush will leave brush marks. The roller allows it to go on very smoothly.

Well, I used a brush which I clean easily after use with water and I do believe that the paint is easy to use with a roll and on different texture surface.

Answer:
If you are painting on drywall that has already been painted, you are good to go. If not, a primer will be needed. If not sure of the surface, you can sand it down to a smooth finish.
It is rollable, preferred. Use a dense foam roller.

Yes. We used both a brush and roller. Brushed the edges first and rolled the center. And we did this on the back of a pantry cabnet door. We did not pre-sand, we just went over the finish. I wipe it down with a damp cloth to clean - let dry and write on it again. It has held up well.

I think it works best on a smooth surface however simply because it's chalkboard and you are going to be writing on it. If the surface isn't smooth writing and/or drawing will be more difficult.

For best, most functional results, you want the surface to be as smooth as possible. You can apply it over anything, but to be able to write/draw on it? And erase it afterwards? Smooth is best.

According the can, it says 95 - 120 sq ft per coat. The toy box we just built has approximately 24 sq ft of chalkboard surface on it and I think I did about 5 or 6 coats on it and still have a little in the can. Hope that helps!

I doubt it. It might for a short time. It if is not in direct contact with the weather, it might be okay, such as on a covered patio but I don't think it would work exposed to weather all the time.

Used 1 can for two coat application of a 4' x 6' (24 sq feet) section on a wall. I would suggest you use the following website to help calculate the total square footage of the room, and note the can was good for 24 sq foot.

Answer:
A lot!!!! You will need 2 coats for complete coverage and durability for writing and erasing with chalk. To save money, you would want to first paint the room in a very dark gray or even black color to get you to your desired level of coverage sooner. Depending on the size of your room, two coats of a quart of chalkboard paint covers about an 8x20 wall.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great for roadside fruit stand I made a sign out of 1/2 inch plywood for a roadside fruit stand. I first used oil based primer and then two coats of the chalkboard paint. it dried very quickly and after several uses, appears to be fairly durable. After each use I hose down the boards and most of the chalk is removed and the paint is unscathed!! only complaint is that the surface is a bit soft and needs occasional touch up. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chalkboard Paint was a big Hit I needed a quick solution to a rainy evening back to school rally. I'd already purchased sidewalk chalk to use but now needed an inside solution. I purchased some inexpensive fiber boards and rolled on 2 quick coats of chalkboard paint. It was actually amazing how well it stuck to the smooth side of these flexible boards. There was no cracking, it dried smooth, and I was able to do 3 boards per quart. I did put a sheet of 3 ml plastic under the boards because sidewalk chalk creates a lot of dust. But, the kids loved them, they cleaned up really well (even with glitter chalk) and I've been able to reuse them for birthday parties and grandchildren =) August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Definately a must for a Home School Room or Play room! My son is in love with his chalkboard wall! I suggest that you make sure that the wall is as smooth as you can get it. Use very fine sandpaper and make it as smooth as possible. It takes 3 coats to make it look right. before putting the last coat on get the very fine sand paper and make sure that there are no bumps in the paint because this will be a problem when you try to write on the wall. The most important thing is to get the 6 inch foam roller. It cleans up very easy so you will not need to buy extras again unless your wall is not smooth. This has been the biggest part of getting my son excited and wanting to learn which to me is worth 10 times what I paid. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It did the trick I removed outdated wall paper, and replaced it with two coats of this chalkboard paint. The surface is durable and has stood up to repeated use and cleaning with a light misting of water. March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent product Kids are so excited to start decorating this wall! August 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality I have have spent a week on preparing my wall for this paint. Sanded, spackled sanded some more, washed the wall, and then used a high quality primer. I was very careful and took my time with the first coat. Light pressure on rolling. Very poor coverage. The next morning, I noticed several runs in the paint. I had to sand those and wipe that area. Second coat filled in the wall but my "best quality" rollers shed into the coat. I am so frustrated with this product. The second coat still shows roller marks. I think I will sand and go buy Valspar chalkboard paint. July 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Chalk it up! Quick, easy and the kids love it. Just moved into a home that needs remodeling. Kids rooms will be the last. To make them feel included & improve the look of their rooms we used this product! It's been so fun, kids & friends love it. We painted the entire wall. I have a feeling when the rooms are remodeled we'll be chalk painting again! June 15, 2016
