Customer Questions & Answers

Does the paint dry clear or does it show a coloration of the surface on which it is painted?

I want to use this to make a starry sky for my son's room, over a blue surface, and I hope that the glow material will not be visible during the day, only at night while it is glowing.
Asked by: Dragontech64
I have only noticed a small film that darkens the original color slightly.

how can I get "Glow in the Dark"paint to glow better?

I am painting a space mural in a little boy's room, the walls and ceiling are a medium blue/gray. I used three coats of flat ceiling white to paint the stars so they would be completely white. After stirring the paint thoroughly, getting all of the sediment off of the bottom.... I put two coats of the "Glow in the Dark" paint on the stars & they only glow a little bit. The room is rather dark, does not get a lot of sunlight and the lights in the room are not bright. Is there a certain bulb that will make the paint glow better?
Asked by: artsea

I want to use this product outside on my flower pots - an I do this and how long will it last or do I have to re-apply - Thanks

Happy to help! Rust-Oleum Specialty Glow in the Dark Brush-On Paint is recommended for use on interior surfaces only. For exterior surfaces, we recommend Rust-Oleum Specialty Glow in the Dark Spray Paint. For the best results, we recommend applying this product on a white surface and making sure the surface has constant exposure to direct light since the coating will need to charge for several hours before it will start to glow. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Specialty-10-oz-Glow-in-the-Dark-Spray-267026/204209388

Customer Reviews

7 oz. Glow in the Dark is rated 1.7 out of 5 by 54.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bery fun! I bought two of these and immediately opened them, held them to the light and then turned off the lights and the product had a glow right away! I test painted some wood and it also worked! I am actually going to add more pigment to increase the glow factor but right now I am happy with the product. Some people said it didn't work but i didnt have any issues and the paint was well mixed when I opened it. I only wished that that this product was rated for painting outside - which is what i plan to do.

This is a great product !!! I'm not sure if the nay-sayers didn't stir it properly or didn't apply it to a light colored material, but I've had great results. I've now bought several cans, and completed several projects (some from the same can and some from different cans), and they all glow-in-the-dark brilliantly.

I followed all of the instructions exactly and am very familiar with paints of all kinds. This stuff just does not produce the glow as advertised and it also is uneven in coverage even on a white surface as recommended. I used it to coat some metal yard art for Halloween and it was a huge disappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I used one can didn't work at all. Then I noticed there was a layer of really hard stuff in the bottom. You can't shake it or mix it you have to scrape the bottom of the can to break it loose. I used a screw driver flat tip. Once loose I just mixed and mixed with a small stick. It turned out wonderful. Very, very nice.....
