Answer:
Yes this Rustoleum Crystal Clear Cote is absolutely waterproof.
It adds a brilliant clear high gloss shine and is perfect for metals, some plastics, and tiles.
Best to read the Rustoleum instructions on what you may be using it on. Some items this will be bad for while the majority are great. But as far as waterproof coating of this product? Perfect!!

Answer:
It is not completely waterproof. I used it on a birdbath and water eventually got through on surfaces that were constantly underwater. Other surfaces were fine.

You came to the right place Edward! Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Crystal Clear Enamel is not recommended for applications to headlights. Most headlights are made of polycarbonate plastic. The crystal clear enamel will not adhere to a plastic surface.

Hello Edward,
I am an end user of this product and use it in and on many applications. Some for testing also.
The R.O. Clear Cote product has some short falls but over all it is a quality product as long as you follow the manufacturers recommendations for its use.
As far as the use, if you are referring to glass headlights or the plastic covered ones with halogen style bulbs?
I would not use it on glass bulbs, especially halogen as it may bubble on you after headlight is used a few times. The you would have to strip the finish off with a good grade stripper.
This product will slow down yellowing of plastic over headlights, but not stop it as the yellowing occurs the vast majority of the time from within the plastic cover that protects the actual bulb. All plastic covers after a few short years will start leaking from washing or rain, letting moisture into the lens.
It is not the sunlight that does all the yellowing to the plastic covers, it is the bulb with its high intensity light that causes a great portion of it, some by trapped moisture inside and almost the rest of it is caused by the materials that are used. The sun plays a small percentage of the problem of yellowing. So this product will not take any yellowing away, however if you have new plastic covers and want to help protect them, then yes. But I would apply it before the installation of the lens. That way you have better control and do not have to worry about overspray, unless you tape and paper it off where it needs to be covered to prevent overspray if not removing the lens.
Everything that you need for your project can be had at any Home Depot Store.
Good luck too you in your project.

Don't worry, Stephanie! The Crystal Clear Gloss Spray Paint is an acrylic formula and can be applied over most paints as long as they have properly dried. As long as there was no reaction with the previous paint you should not have any problems

Your question blends into an 'after the fact' question!
Apparently you have already accidentally had over spray drift over onto a wood item with a water base finish on it? It happens. You are not the first one nor will be the last one to experience this.
With the Rustoleum Crystal Clear it pretty much bonds into and into any item it comes in contact with.
DO NOT try to remove it with strong chemicals.

DO NOT try to remove it with strong chemicals. Try Mineral Spirits or a Mineral Spirits base Paint Thinner on an old wash cloth. The wash cloth is best as it is soft, but porous material that will hold a good amount of thinner and can absorb any loosened Clear Cote. I need to tell you at this time that if the Clear Cote has been out in the sun even for a few hours or in a shady area for a few days, you will never get that Clear Cote off at all. You will need to actually strip the finish(s) off of the wood down to the bare wood. Follow the directions on a can of a good quality stripper and have the proper tools needed. Your local Home Depot representative can help you with what you need. While you are there, it would be a good idea to buy some of the thin plastic sheets for covering items from overspray. You can get them pretty cheap compared to ruining a finish or other exposed items.
Take your time when you start on the project. Especially if you end up refinishing and apply a few coats of a water base plastic polymer finish. Be sure the wood is re-sanded very good, all dust removed, a plastic sheet down in case some of it drips down onto surface and the area is well ventilated. Good luck!

Best thing to do is to use a small amount of Crystal Cote in a container and take an artist brush and apply a small amount in an out of the way area that cannot be seen very much. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great product-serves its purpose The spray served its purpose perfectly, definitely would recommend September 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Water blotch issues! Used this over black Rust-Oleum flat oil finish on wrought iron. Looked great until water from our sprinkler system dried, leaving large white blotches on the horizontal railings. Called Rust-Oleum. They were able to come up for a reason for this and offered to send me a refund. They did take the batch numbers from the product. I'm in the process of trying to rectify the problem. First tried roughing up the finish with scouring pads and repainting with oil gloss. This only gave the same result the next time water dried on it. I'm going to a kerosene rub down and oil gloss a second time. Have had good results with that product and hope to persevere with it. The flat, with or w/o the spray gloss, does not work! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rust-oleum Clear rules, but take heed in my comment ... Shake well and occasionally shake product during spraying or the can will cough up crystals like in Dave's comment, above. Even wipe the nozzle off between sprays...worked for me after it spit out a few crystals in my lovely paint job. March 24, 2016
