Answer:
No, Rust-Oleum LeakSeal Flexible Rubber Coating is not designed to seal wood surfaces. This product is recommended for use to seal leaks and cracks. It does form a paintable finish; however, most stains require bare wood surfaces. We recommend testing the product first in a small inconspicuous area to ensure desired results and compatibility with a top coat.

When spraying the product on a small pipe, some of it sprayed on some nearby brick. What is your recommendation on how to dissolve or remove the product from the brick?

Answer:
Removing LeakSeal from brick could be challenging because of the porosity and how much was applied. The best way to remove product is to sand or strip it off of the brick surface. Please test the stripper to make sure it does not discolor the brick.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 33 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by WORKED ONCE, BUT NOT TWICE I used a can of Rusoleum Leakseal on the inside of two rain barrels to fill small cracks. I put eight coats on each crack, starting out with small spray amounts. It worked to stop the leak in one rain barrel, but it did not stop the leak in the second rain barrel. I used about a third of a can on the inside of each rain barrel, spraying it in timed intervals throughout the day. I was disappointed that it did not repair the crack in the second rain barrel. I may have been applying it on the wrong type of plastic. I plan to scrape it off of the bottom of the rain barrel, and use plastic roof cement (tar) to repair the crack. September 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by worked for me, stopped leak from under door It seems to have worked for me. I have a door with a large gap under it. I used some expanding foam to stop the bugs and air from coming in, but that stuff seems to be a sponge. Every hard rain left me with puddles in my kitchen. So I tried the Leak Seal the other day. We had a very hard rain early this morning (nearly 3'') and my kitchen is dry, so I am happy, needless to say. I will note that this product can be messy and you will want to be careful with it. I used painters tape and cardboard to protect the threshold, door and trim. Gloves might be a good idea, too. This can spatter out a couple of feet from where you are applying it, so note that. I also followed the directions and tried to lay down a thin first coat and a heavier second coat, about 30 min. later. October 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stuff Had a roof flashing leak. Cleaned up the area, but on several coats and brushed smooth to make sure it got in the cracks...... just bought some more to do another area that is leaking... will see next big storm. I am sure it will hold. September 15, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did Not Stop Leak! This product was highly recommended by store employees. Useless on a small steady leak. Had a leak around the threads of a sink basket, drain pipe and spray hose. Cover areas you do not want this stuff on, because the spray goes every where. Sprayed LeakSeal on the leaking areas and waited 15 minutes. It never fully dried. After 3 coats it made the leaks worse. In the end, I returned the product for a full refund and bought a new faucet set and drain pipe. Initially I was using duct tape, then bought epoxy putty that was containing the leak. LeakSeal did not seal or stop the leak. Save your money, this product was a bust for me. May 9, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by over priced and not worth the time i ordered this product as i thought it would help stop a small drip that i had from my gutter, no such luck, it kept allowing water thru and eventually peeled right off, even after following the instructions. it is a big disappointment as Rustoleum i thought, was an exce ptional product and a trusted name . i would advise just using silicone liquid or adhesive to stop seam leaks, anything would work better than this... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by rustoleum spray I got this a few weeks ago but use it for past few years . It also comes in clear and white . It is a very good product and great for protecting metal or wood from damage from being or close to ground . I spray a pipe coming out of ground with it about 3 years ago and has shown no disbanding from the pipe. April 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product! Easy to use, good instructions, follow them and you shouldn't have a problem. Products does just as advertised. April 7, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worked fine Let me start by saying I discoverd a leak in my roof during a very heavy storm, the water wasn't pouring in but was a very steady drip in a few different places. It was wet and dripping when I sprayed it on and it worked! i was very surprised that it stopped the steady drips, I put 2 coats so far and have a second can to do another couple of coats until I can have it repaired correctly. I would like to addI have used Rustoleum products in the past and have never been disappointed. December 9, 2014
