Rated 3 out of 5 by Patience& some elbow grease We watched the videos online and followed instructions for the counter transformation. Everything seemed ok once we go the hang of the fleck mixing. After we applied the final gloss coat, patches of fleck appeared with a fade and also a splotchy area that looks bad and the gloss dried somewhat wrinkly. I have to live with it, place mats may cover some if it gets to me. I'm uncertain of recommending this as it takes a few days to prep, apply, dry/cure to be disappointed. Under $300. February 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Huge Improvement My husband and I are definitely DIY novices but used Rustoleum products to redo both our countertops and cabinets. We used Java Stone for the countertops. On the whole, it's a huge improvement over the dated formica that we had before. It was a little harder than it seemed from the video... I think maybe we were just a little too cautious with the base coat and then we sanded through it in some portions. We did several rounds of touch-ups but finally called it a day (especially since it does get annoying to not have usable countertops and chips everywhere). I agree with previous reviewer, the diamond tool was on its last leg by the end of the project, wish they gave you two. All said and done, I see a few imperfect spots, but I doubt my guests ever would, so I'm happy. May 28, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mixed Feelings We followed all the directions for this product and on the flat parts & back splash of our counters it turned out beautifully, I love it. However, we have bull-nosed edges and the product did not properly stick. We ended up redoing the edge 3 times and it just seemed to get worse and worse, we could not get it to blend with the rest of the counter. I will now be replacing my countertops. I think if you have a straight edge counter top it would be great, but it did not do well on the bull-nose. May 3, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by disappointed :( I was so excited to do my counter tops with this product, I watched the video and it all looked pretty easy. The problem was that they do not give you enough of the adhesive to properly cover. I measured and the large kit was suppose to be plenty but by the end I was scraping the bottom of the can so my bar did not get covered properly and it dried very fast even with the wetting agent. My suggestion would be to buy 2 small kits because then you would get two quarts of the adhesive also I would do it in small sections instead of painting the whole thing and then putting on the rock. I had to buy another big kit because of the color I chose and when it was all said and done, it would of only cost a couple hundred dollars to buy a brand new counter top. April 15, 2014
