Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kevin Spray paint on platic without prep work
Typical spray paint usage but I liked that it painted to plastic without any preparation needed. Good consistent coverage if application is done per instructions. Has been out in sun (no rain yet) on plastic and is still looking fine.

We bought three cans of this spray paint. Two of the cans were fine, the third can dried unevenly and very splotchy. It looked fine wet but when it dried it looked terrible. Had to buy another can to redo.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by F123BDME Rustoleum Universal Metallic Spray Paint (Rustic Mist)
Subject product has been purchased in the past with excellent results, although in other colors. It added a beautiful finish to an antique lamp that was badly in need of repair and after electrical wiring replacement.

I had sanded some old copper plated swing hinges with 180 grit. Had them all cleaned up and used acetone as a final cleaning solution. Spray painted with Rustic Mist and they looked good. Four days later, I went to recoat, but first used some regular paint thinner to wipe off a smudge. To my horror, the paint started to soften and come off. Once this began to happen, I used more paint thinner to wipe the hinges completely free of paint. The sprayed on paint came off like dirt or carbon, not like a sticky film. Called Rustoleum and they couldn't provide any explanation. Drying conditions were 70 F at 38%.

I used this on some plastic outdoor furniture that had started to fade. It looks better than new & has held up great through the weather.

Rustoleum makes great paint - no doubt. But these spray cans with these type of sprayers are faulty. You will screw up your project. They LEAK paint all over your hand. They sputter no matter how much paint is in them and no matter how much you shake them. And after about 2/3 of a can it will spit drops of paint everywhere. This is not on one or two cans. My wife has a project where we have to buy this color/paint in order o finish. Over about 12 cans so far every other one is this way. I though enouggh to warn others. Buy something with a conventional spray head.
