I grabbed seven cans of this spray paint to refinish a fire pit set I’ve had for about two and half years. The set is aluminum so it was in excellent condition but the powder coat finish looked kind of worn even after a good pressure washing. Prior to my purchase, I read many of the reviews. Not to discount any of the issues other experienced but what worked for me was that if I started using a can; I used it until it was empty. I think the paint can clog the nozzle if it’s used then set aside to be used another day.
In applying the paint, I sprayed an entire chair once, and then did it over, and over, and over. This applied a light coat each time until finally there was full coverage. One can did spray out blotches of paint so tossed it aside. There were no issues with the other cans and the project turned out great. I actually prefer this Burnished Amber color over the original dark bronze. The forged hammered look is subtle but very nice. I purchased seven cans but the four chairs and the fire pit/table took closer to five. One can was left over and one did not spray properly. With more negative than positive reviews, I recommend this product but with caution.

This is by far my most favorite color of all the Rust-Oleum Spray Paints. It gives anything a beautiful brownish metal look. I have used it on my mailbox and patio furniture that I refinished. I just bought it again for some planters that I will refinish. I'm not sure what the other reviews are referring to because I have bought this product several times now and have never had a problem. I've used it on metal, plastic and glass. Would definitely recommend.

A year ago I stripped about 30 ft. of iron railing to bare metal. I bought 6 Cans of this paint.
It took 12 cans to complete the job. The paint did not cover well. It has been a year now, and the paint is turning to a powder, where if you rub up against it, it comes off onto your clothes. It has also faded terribly. I will have to re-strip the entire railings again and re-paint. I certainly won't use Rust-O-...

I have used this product many times because of the hammered finish I need for my art work but the cost of the paint and the frustration using it is just not worth it. It says you can spray in any angle and the tip just needs to be wiped clean after use but that is not completely true and I have learned to try not to tip the can to much when the can has less than half full. Also, I found I had to forcibly remove the spray tips and soak them in thinner then blow them out with air and reinstall them if you want to get them to spray properly every time. If the can gets below half full you may get a lot of spatter or no paint at all and I have discarded many cans that were not empty. I got the wrong color in cans too and reported this to Rustoleum along with paint codes off the cans. No reply. I reported the spray tip problem and the fact that I was no getting all the paint from the can. Again, no reply. If, I ever buy another can and have a problem I will return it with the invoice to Home Depot for refund or replacement.

If you want to add frustration and cost to your project use this product. Like others, I experienced clogging, blotchy spray and uneven coverage. Despite constantly wiping the tip to keep it clean and continued shaking of the can, I only get through half the can before it is not longer usable. I called Rustoleum at 10:45 AM west coast time and apparently the entire product support department was at lunch. I was told to call back later. Not sure why Rustoleum would continue making such a bad product and why Home Depot continues to carry it.

After spending hours choosing a color, then hours more preparing the surfaces of my antique metal clock cases, I put Rust-oleum primer on them first, just in case the all-in-one product didn't work. After sanding, I sprayed on the first coat of Burnished Amber. Instantly, it started to 'pock-up’ or ‘crater’ with dozens of little holes in the surface and ruined the first attempt. I removed all the paint with lacquer thinner. I raised the temperature of the garage 15 degrees thinking it had been too cold the first time. I got everything set up and the 2/3's full can I used for the first coat, just shot air. I shook and shook with no luck. I went back to the store - half hour each way - and they were out of that color. After visiting another 2 stores, finding no Rust-oleum Burnished Amber, I decided to choose another color - Dark Bronze. The cap color was very similar to the Amber.
All set up to paint, I put on a light coat of the bronze. Even with a light dusting, it started to load up and sag. Not only that, the color it sprayed was bright silver, not even close to the brown color on the cap.
I've sprayed hundreds of projects with perfect results. This paint is impossible to use - if it sprays at all – and is the wrong color to boot! While I love the color of the Amber, this product is not worth all the trouble. Maybe you'll have better luck. I had none. I'll have to try another brand. Using Rust-oleum is just nuts.

I did a project a couple of months ago. The project was for a water fountain that had some metal on the back of the fountain. The paint went on well and looked great. The metal was brand new and and I wire brushed to make sure there no rust or flaking. I sprayed about 3 coats on it make sure it was welled covered. I just notice that I am see some rust coming through the paint. I very disappointed with the results after just a few months. The no water running on so I can not understand why it's doing it. I should have stuck with the primer only and then the paint. I guess you can believe everything you read on the label.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mcmatt560 Looks great but a pain to use
The finished product looks great but when spraying I had to constantly be shaking the can or it would just spray air from the can. Made it very tiresome to use and it got on everything around!
