We have purchased 4 cans of hammered black & bronze and get to spray for a couple of minutes or less then the trigger malfunctions and we're left with an unusable can of paint. We bought the first 2 cans from Home Depot & both failed. I didn't return as HD is 20 miles away. Thought maybe a batch problem so bought another can from our local Hardware store. Same problem. Then tried our local BiMart store....yup, failed again. It gives a nice paint finish when it works but $25.00 later we couldn't even cover more than a couple of door hinges & latches leaving our projects unfinished. I'm going to let Rustoleum know as well.

Unlike other complaints of spraying only propellant, I've had two cans run out of propellant before they were half empty! $4 is too much to pay for half a can.

I generally like Rust-Oleum products but this is the second time I've tried to use the Hammered paint and had problems. The first time the trigger was broken when I got it home. It very flimsy. And maybe someone returned it this way.
The second time it sprayed for about 20 seconds then would only spray propellant. I assume the paint tube fell off because I could get paint out with the can upside down. No way to try to paint.
Biggest problem is I live 50 miles from Home depot so it's $20.00 in gas to exchange the paint.
I won't buy this again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sandy How to spray- don't follow the directions
When I used this paint it looked nice but it did not match the top of the can, much less texture or "hammered" look. I then discovered by chance that the way to get the hammered look was to put on the paint super thick about 2-4" from the surface (practically dripping) to get the textured look. This is not what the directions say and its everything you been told not to do when spray painting. Unfortunately, I discovered this too late after all my patio furniture was already painted.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MichaelRPh Had to return 6 different cans
This paint or the can is not nearly perfected. After 6 trips to HD, I gave up and went with a different idea on what kind of paint to use.
The first time I tried it I shook it vigorously for 3 minutes. It spurted and just hissed out propellent. The subsequent times I shook at least 10 minutes thinking it had clumped up in the can. To no avail did it ever give more than a spurt and quit. I emailed Rustoleum to see what the problem is and should hear back from them in the next week or so. I am truly disappointed this didn't work.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DIYer Love the metallic Rosemary hammered color
I didn't have any of the spray issues a few others mentioned. Used on two projects: exterior of a large old cement tub sink and rusted metal stand in garage and plastic light switch plates. The hammered look was more evident on the smaller switch plate -possibly because it was laid flat to paint? Sophisticated color, not too brassy or dark. I'm checking now with the company to see if safe for interior of metal bird bath both in durability and eco-friendliness.

as mentioned by others it will spray only propellant sometimes..just a note to help others with this problem:
turn the can upside down and it will spray! horrible can but the color i needed is only available in this can so i HAD to make them work. the trigger actuator is not good also..you sometimes have to move it sideways or press in different places to get it to spray properly

Purchased 8 cans of this paint. 1st can sprayed for 5 seconds then turned to propellant only. Tried 2nd can only to have the same problem. 3rd wouldn't spray at all. Don't waste your time with this paint. Should have checked other reviews prior to purchasing this type. I will be returning them.
