12 oz. All Surface Hammered Rosemary Spray Paint and primer in 1 is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint I used this to repaint exterior metal and plastic parts for my porch railing. Unique color and paint goes on well. It takes a bit of practice spraying with the proper technique to achieve a uniform hammered effect without over spraying to avoid paint runs but it achieved it pretty quickly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the color and the result (see picture of full chair) but the product was ""finicky"" to use. I... Love the color and the result (see picture of full chair) but the product was "finicky" to use. I followed the guidelines and shook the can for at least the required 60 seconds once the ball began rattling, and used it on a dry, 70 degree (F) day. This experience was consistent across 6 cans used to spray aluminum patio chairs and table (which had been stripped and primed with Rust-Oleum aluminum primer) The challenges were: - It does not like to be sprayed in "bursts" - doing so tends to start with a "splatter" (see close up). It's necessary to spray continuously to achieve a good result. This would be less of a problem on a large, flat area, but for a complex item like a patio chair it was difficult to maintain. - Coverage - this is not scientific as I did not compare it to any other products, but it seemed to put more paint in the air than on the chairs! It took a full can (and then some) per patio chair. I realize spray cans are not precision instruments, but this seemed worse than other sprays. Probably related to the "continuous" vs "burst" usage. - It leaks - wear latex gloves! By the time i was done with one can three fingers of the glove were covered in paint and too sticky to use further. - It has a trigger rather than the common push-down actuator. You'd think the trigger would be easier and more natural to use, but it didn't feel that way to me, and it took a strong pull to operate. This also made it harder to start/stop the spray. I prefer the standard "press down" sprayer on Rust-Oleum's other spray cans Note: I had no such problems with the aforementioned Rust-Oleum aluminum primer! I would buy this one again for the resulting finish, just with the knowledge that it's a bit messier and less efficient than "regular" sprays. Also, I did not experience the clogging that other users reported, possibly because each can was used up in one sitting.

I have read these reviews with interest and feel compelled to say that I think there are a few things going on here: Possibly a bad batch of spray mechanisms, old product (store not moving enough causing settling or separation) damage to the cans in shipping or operator error. I have personally NEVER had a single bad can that only sprays intermittently or runs out of propellant or doesn't produce the desired hammered effect. That is from my experience through purchasing well over 100 of these over the years in all of the various can styles and colors ever since it came out and that goes back many years probably into the late 90's or early 2000's. The only problems I have EVER had are not getting the hammered look as significantly as I would like but the problem was ME in that I had not shaken the can long enough, being impatient to get to work *whistles innocently*. Shake, shake, shake then test out on a spot first to make sure you are happy with the look. I love the hammered and metallic looks and use it every year to freshen up outdoor decor. I have brought back rusty bird feeders, plastic deck pots (why I am here looking at the Rosemary color today), metal bird figures on top of my tomato obelisks, outdoor furniture, dryer vent covers, furnace vent hood, carriage door style garage door strap trim, air conditioner units and much more. I have used this throughout my kids school careers and used it in December for a sculpture final for my now senior in college. We painted pvc pipe that we cut, heated to flatten and reform into the 8' long sculpture shown below and it made the coolest effects by overspraying different colors while wet giving a faded ombre look with a lot of depth. Sadly the photo does not do it justice. I really like this spray head myself. If you are careful you can rotate the spray tip so you can change the spray pattern from horizontal to vertical without having to tilt the can at weird angles. I can get a super precise spray pattern without overspray problems as well. If I use a conventional can I attach a trigger spray head because I get hand fatigue but I find this spray head eliminates that issue completely which means I don't have to pass up the paint choices in this product line. This stuff works wonderfully but you have to be patient and practice a bit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Had to return 6 different cans This paint or the can is not nearly perfected. After 6 trips to HD, I gave up and went with a different idea on what kind of paint to use. The first time I tried it I shook it vigorously for 3 minutes. It spurted and just hissed out propellent. The subsequent times I shook at least 10 minutes thinking it had clumped up in the can. To no avail did it ever give more than a spurt and quit. I emailed Rustoleum to see what the problem is and should hear back from them in the next week or so. I am truly disappointed this didn't work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst can design Purchased 8 cans of this paint. 1st can sprayed for 5 seconds then turned to propellant only. Tried 2nd can only to have the same problem. 3rd wouldn't spray at all. Don't waste your time with this paint. Should have checked other reviews prior to purchasing this type. I will be returning them.
