A little pricey.

It was a simple remove and install. Remove the bump knob, slide off the string head, slide on the new string head, and install the new bump knob.

I purchased this replacement string head for my gas trimmer. The manufacture design is far inferior to the one that I replaced The head is designed to accommodate easy string loading, which it does. The automatic string advance does not work, and the string has to be lengthened manually. I tried to purchase the older style string head, (that is not "easy load" and, therefore, has less moving parts, and is less likely to malfunction; Oh, and is also less expensive, but Home Depot didn't offer those.)

Only had this thing a few hours. It started out like it was doing its job but stopped feeding the line during the first job I used it on. Before I could finish my back yard I had to stop 3 times to take it apart and reinstall the line. Its in the trash now. It simply does not do what it is meant to do.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jackson Works well, saves time, I've been waiting for this "invention" since the beginning of trimmers.
Works excellent on my Ryobi straight shaft trimmer. It takes a bit to learn how to string the line through, but after that it was super easy .... just like it always should have been. I think that the original trimmer had one of these - it pays to read the instructions. I would recommend this 100% - if this fits your trimmer. Jack

Does not work.Getting line through to other side is a hassel I followed directions...when Bumphead is screwed on tight ,like it should, the line will not even be advanced manually.Only way to pull line is with bumphead screw almost all the way out.The line binds inside. You don't have to be in rocket science to se this is junk. Will return and see if the guy behind the counter in tool rental can do it. I'll bet the house he can't....

If you're replacing one of the old discontinued heads with the yellow bump head, don't! I know they are discontinued and not available in stores, but the parts are all still available on line. This new one did not feed line without taking it apart each time I needed to advance the line.
