Customer Questions & Answers

Will I be able to use size .80 string. Also what other string sizes can i use with this?

Asked by: Victor
Definitely ! Mine would NOT feed properly when I used the .095" (red) line that came in the package. When I loaded it with the .080" line I had used for years with the old head, it cut and fed perfectly. I've used it several times since on some tough weeds (including green kudzu vines), and am very satisfied.

Asked by: darrell
Thank you for asking, Darrell. Since Cub Cadet is not a brand that we manufacture, we do not recommend using this string head on that string trimmer. Please check with Cub Cadet on a list of compatible string heads.

Thank you for asking, Freezer1. Please check with Milwaukee in regards to compatibility with this string head on their trimmer. Since we do not manufacture that brand, we are unaware of the compatibility between their units and our accessories.

Will this fit the Toro sold at Home Depot?

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Gene
Thank you, Gene. In order to determine if this string head is compatible with a Toro unit, we would need to know the model number of the string trimmer.

The only complaint is the method of putting new line on the head. The suggested method is very tedious as the string is wound with the unit assembled.

The string head did not fit properly on my 2007 Ryobi BC30 trimmer as advertised on the package. Called Ryobi customer service and he said it should fit after checking model number. The adapter shaft is a quarter inch short due to the flange washer. Replacement shaft is the length as the one I have. We discussed lenghtly on the phone about what parts are on the stringer head and Ryobi trimmer. There are two flange washer and my unit has the flat flange washer for brush blade. The other flange washer has a hex for a wrench for string head but does not fit my trimmer drive head because its too large in diameter to fit in trimmer head. Well I have a string head that does not work on my trimmer. Back to the old one.

I was a bit skeptical because the packaging looks so generic, but so far this trimmer head has worked very well. They found a way to make the horrible task of winding the string very easy. I'm very impressed. The bump-feed system works well and I don't have any complaints. It comes with 20 ft. of string and it looks like you can use other types/brands of string pretty easily. It's a great system!

Everything works how it's suppose to but the line is so hard to feed through the holes to come out the other end so you can start winding but after it's fed through then your good to go. I was so happy I got a speed feed for it but when I used it I wasn't as happy as I should have been.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Disappointed 'til I used a smaller line... Purchased two weeks ago; installed easily, using the .095" line that came with it. Could only feed line manually (with the knob tightened snugly by hand). Decided to slightly loosen knob-- seemed to allow it to "bump" feed a couple of times, then fed about 12" & wound excess around shaft; cut off excess and tried again (several times) with same result. Was ready to return to HD, but decided to try using the old .080" string I had been using for years on the original head...glad I did; it cuts and feeds perfectly, now! Hope this will help someone avoid the exasperation I experienced. (Too bad the engineers who designed this "improved" head didn't see this flaw...)
