Customer Questions & Answers

Will I be able to use size .80 string. Also what other string sizes can i use with this?

Asked by: Victor
Definitely ! Mine would NOT feed properly when I used the .095" (red) line that came in the package. When I loaded it with the .080" line I had used for years with the old head, it cut and fed perfectly. I've used it several times since on some tough weeds (including green kudzu vines), and am very satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Disappointed 'til I used a smaller line... Purchased two weeks ago; installed easily, using the .095" line that came with it. Could only feed line manually (with the knob tightened snugly by hand). Decided to slightly loosen knob-- seemed to allow it to "bump" feed a couple of times, then fed about 12" & wound excess around shaft; cut off excess and tried again (several times) with same result. Was ready to return to HD, but decided to try using the old .080" string I had been using for years on the original head...glad I did; it cuts and feeds perfectly, now! Hope this will help someone avoid the exasperation I experienced. (Too bad the engineers who designed this "improved" head didn't see this flaw...)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Probably works but... The replacement head looks as though it would work fine. Instructions are great for installation. However, I was unable to remove the string head from my Ryobi Expand-it product. There are no instructions for removing the old head except to turn clockwise or CCW depending on type. In my case there is no nut to turn and the head itself just spins. My advice is to check You-Tube to ensure you can remove the old head before purchasing this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not much of a replacement If you're replacing one of the old discontinued heads with the yellow bump head, don't! I know they are discontinued and not available in stores, but the parts are all still available on line. This new one did not feed line without taking it apart each time I needed to advance the line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works better than the standard string head that came with trimmer. Works better than the standard string head that came with trimmer. It has only been a week so not sure how long it will last and work well, bit good so ar. A little pricey.
