Customer Questions & Answers

Is this good for tight corners on furniture

Asked by: Shanday
The sanding pads do not stick to the tool so I do not recommend buying this. If you were to find a way to get the sanding pads to adhere, it is a little too big for tight corners, there is no sharp point on it, just large round corners.

Self-adhesive sand paper won't stick

The sheets that came with the sander worked ok at first, but the replacement sheets would not stay attached after a few hours sanding. It appears accumulation of sawdust prevents the adhesive from functioning properly. Is there a workaround? Works great when sandpaper sticks, but it useless when it doesn't.

Sandpaper not alway stick well. Better if can be attach with velcro like other sander.

I thought that maybe the ones that came with it were just poor quality so I bought a different brand of sanding pads, those also would not stick. This is a waste of money and time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for tight spots. The reviews here are all over the place so I was hesitant to purchase this detail sander. I'm so glad I did though. I was redoing the stain on my deck and needed to get in between the balusters to sand. I tried doing the sanding by hand and I Was having a really hard time and it wasn't coming out. So I purchased this in hopes it would work. And it worked really great. I had no issues with the sandpaper coming off while using it. I did give it a little squeeze when I put it on. I'm not sure if that helps. Also something to note, they didn't have any of the pre cut sand paper in the grit I needed so I purchased the square one and I was able to cut three triangles. A money saver for sure.

Working with the DS1200 The self adhesive sand paper failed to stick after the fourth change. I modified the pad by epoxying vinyl fabric (PT536369 @$20/yd roughly $.20 worth, from the local fabric store) to the bottom of the pad and trimming the excess. The unit has performed reliably ever since. Paper stays where I place it and I am able to reposition multiple times to fully use all of the corners. Great close-in detail sander. With the vinyl modification I would give it a 4-5. It is easy to use but does get warm after 30 minutes of use.

Just pulled out of the box. While sanding a 1x2 piece the sanding pads supplied with the sander were marginal at best. Repeatedly had to reposition. The aftermarket Diablo pads were worse. Fell off before the sander touched the wood. Also, I followed the directions and did not apply pressure letting the sander do the work. Why doesn't this product have hook and loop on the pads. Going right back to the Depot.

I purchased this sander to help remove paint from a metal handrail. After ten minutes of use, the padding of the mount began to wear away. The sanding sheet immediatly began to fall off. I went back to using my drill and various wire mesh attachments to finish the job. I read reviews after the fact and was surprised to see that this product is still on the shelves at Home Depot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Junk - Worst Tool Ever Purchased Bought this two weeks ago. Got through 2 sanding pads. Pads no longer stick to base. Additionally, 100grit pad included with package is substantially coarser than packages of diablo 100 grit paper. Lost the reciept. Will see if home depot wants to keep my continued business and accept the return.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Willl not keep sand paper on I used it once to sand a chair and it was fine. A week later to finish a desk, the sandpaper (within seconds) will fall off. The pad gets dirty quickly and loses the stickiness. I tried using Velcro but the pad isn't sticky anymore. That's after one use. Not worth it.
