The power of the Drill and Hammer function get the job done. I do not drill in concrete all day long, but when I need to, this tool has stepped up to the challenge. The power is perfect for mixing grout, thinset and mortar. This drill was critial to installing bathroom, plumbing fictures and vanity in porcelain tile. See image below.

I bought this drill last year and got good performance out of it for one year before it broke.
While the drill was still under warranty, the trigger burned out and the drill stopped working. I took it to the only single local RYOBI certified repair shop in Toronto and it has been there for 6 months so far with no end in sight. It requires a new part which has been on a container ship in the Atlantic for months and will then need to be shipped through the US (by donkey no doubt) before it arrives in Canada.
I hound the repair shop every month or so and borrow a friends Dewalt drill when I need one - which is a really great drill by the way.

In the middle of trying to drill some brick (with a non-hammer 3/4" corded drill and masonry bit), and getting nowhere, I remembered that I had always wanted a hammer drill! Down to the Depot and got this model, choosing it over the One+ cordless for heavier duty (but still generally casual) work. Completely satisfied. Went through the brick like butter. Very solid feeling. Great torque. Not sure why people are complaining about the chuck -- it's a regular keyed chuck. Replace it with a keyless if you want. Would definitely purchase again, though I don't expect to need to for a long time.

I bought one of these to drill some holes in a concrete wall to attach furring strips. The drill worked great for the first half dozen holes. After that, problems started. The chuck wouldn't stay closed, and became loose to the point I could hand tighten it. I knew something was wrong when even with a brand new bit, I couldn't drill an inch-and-a-half-deep hole.
The switch between hammer mode and drill mode become stuck in hammer mode.
I took it back to HD and got another one. The other one worked like a charm and I was able to finish the remainder of the project.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by FaridC Chuck problem.
Mine had problems after about 1-2 months of on/off use.
the drill bits started slipping and the chuck was not tightening at all. After a few more uses, the chuch seized and could not be tightened or loosened anymore.
As far as customer service is concerned, Home Depot did not hesitate to replace it, after I had contacted Ryobi through their website and did not hear from them...except for the automated e-mail reply saying they received my message and will get back to me, well it has been over a month now.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amateur Exactly what I needed at the price I wanted!
I went looking for a different brand for reliability and performance but they didn't have something I was willing to pay that much for. My need for a hammer drill is infrequent to say the least, so I bought this Ryobi.
A big selling point was that it had a storage case (many lesser expensive models don't - just a cardboard box) but I was pleased with the features it had and how well it worked.
The depth gauge was easy to set up and worked great.

This hammer drill cut through concrete like butter. I had to cut holes in Terrazzo and each hole took less than 30 seconds. WOW. My first hammer drill. I got a corded one vs battery bc I heard these drills suck down a lot of juice.
