Customer Reviews

Rated 2.2 out of 5 by 26 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expected The Ryobi tiller was easy to put together although it did not have a detailed step by step outline. My problems started when I took it out to use it. I tried starting it multiple times. There was a sheet detailing how to do that. I did not get it started. I finally broke down and went to get my husband to try...I HATE doing that. He finally got it started after 4 or 5 tries. I went to till my plot and when I stopped to change directions, it died. It took 5 or 6 times to restart it. I thought maybe it just needed a breaking in period. After using it for several days - 15 minutes tops any day - I decided to return it and get something else. Home Depot was great about taking it back. May 5, 2010
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Returned it! I looked at this online and went to 4 Home Depots before I found one on the shelf. The display and specs made it look good and with the included edger attachment it seemed like a good deal. After quick assembly today I set out to till some small garden beds that I have. It started easy enough but it's tilling capabilities were poor and the engine continually stalled out. It even stalled out when not tilling, just trying to rev the engine. It had either a carb or fuel line problem. I returned it for a Honda, $50 more, no edger, but the Honda is an awesome little machine as are most Honda products that I own. April 18, 2010
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DON'T BUY THIS 1st 5 Min Carbrator Smoked! I boght this and assembled it, I thought it would looking good, when I started the 1st start I saw smoke came out of the carbritor and it wont start agian. I call customer service they was helpful help me to get it start, and for five min of doing what they told they told me I have a carbritor problem with the machine they told me DUMP FUEL OUT and return it. I got it on sale for $219 thought its a good deal with the grass edger attchment, but its not working. I saw other review about it not working and dont blieve it, now I have a problem. Only Recomend this product to someone you hate. August 3, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by One Little Powerhouse - Recommended! We bought this when we were at the store because my husband liked the strength of the tines in comparison with the Echo model that was also available (I had wanted the Echo, as it looked more like the Mantis Tiller)... Well, let me tell you that I am glad I followed my husband's suggestion :-) The first day that I used it, I hit some rocks that I'm sure would have wrecked the Echo's tines altogether! Those rocks didn't phase the Ryobi at all! It is one powerhouse of a cultivator, which I would highly recommend to anyone maintaining planter beds or gardens that are not hard packed. I only gave it a 4 star, as a 4.5 star wasn't available, and if someone bought it for a "new" garden, they might be disappointed in it.... Easy to use, Easy to store works great! March 9, 2010
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tough little guy I have a large rear tine tiller that I use for my first ground breaking of the year. But, I (being-not so strong ) woman had trouble cultivating when plants started growing. I did it by hand last year and it was extremely difficult. I haven't had this guy long but it is REMARKABLE ! I sometimes have help on the first start but after that it is simple to restart. I tested it in solid ground with crab grass and it ate right through. Impressed. Great for town. Handles like a dream. No bucking or bouncing. May 1, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Follow up review I had previously reviewed this one after 5 or 6 hours of use. At 8 or 9 hours, it began to leak oil, and then the tines seized up again (just like the Homelite did) and stalled the engine every time you tried to hit accelerator. Cheesh.... I just want something durable that is worth the money!!! Maybe it's the clay here in Chicago area that is doing this. I will be returning this one today. Guess I will spend the extra $ and try the Honda. Seems like it has gotten good reviews here. June 12, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Little Machine! I purchased this little cultivator at Home Depot. When I got home I read some of the reviews and I must admit that I had some concerns. However, it was easy to assemble (read the instructions!). It started 2nd pull and purrs like a kitten. The edging attachment works great! Just a tip, let it warm up a minute before giving it full throttle. This is no different from any other machine. It really is a little workhorse. No problems. I highly recommend it. March 24, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Product This tiller was absolutely terrible. If you can get it to run it works fine until it runs out of gas after about 20 minutes. I was able to use this thing about 3 times total for about 1 hour total. In between turns it would take 20-30 minutes just to get the thing started. Towards the end of the 3rd time using it it started leak oil everywhere. Very poorly made. Took back to the store the same day. Easy return no questions asked. July 12, 2010
