i bought the whole set 2 years ago (drill, battery and charger). I hardly used it since I always call a handyman to do some repair/s Just recently when I tried to use it, it didn't work (of course the battery's charge was consumed after years of inactivity). So when I tried to charge the battery I noticed the red and green lights kept on flashing, I thought it was just because I just charge the battery and after a couple of minutes or hours it will normalize the charging, but unfortunately it di not, the flashing of the red and green lights continued. This means that the battery was/is defective after just a couple of uses.
I went to Home Depot to buy a new battery but unfortunately they don't have it in the store and the sales clerk said I can buy it online. After reading the reviews and checked the rating of only 2.4 star I felt good that it was not only me who experienced this bad situation. I am not buying any RYOBI products anymore.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Jeff AVOID THIS PRODUCT!!!!!
I bought the 12v combo of Drill, Circular saw, Reciprocating Saw and flash light with 2 batteries and 1 charger for $99, batteries didn't last long. I bought this combo because of the price and the amount of times i was going to use. i used it no more than 10X (light duties only) in 1 year and the batteries went defective. The amount of power the batteries can hold it was not enough to power the Miter Saw and Jig saw even when I charge the batteries. So now i'm stuck with brand new never used Circular saw and Reciprocating saw. I refuse to buy new 12v batteries!!! So for fathers day, i bought myself 18v Drill and impact drill combo and bought the extra 2 year warranty....just in case.

It is a 12V Li Battery! It is just expensive, but Home Depot was the least expensive including Amazon! It is funny, you can buy a new 18V small hand drill / driver for under $80 USD, but a battery cost $50 USD! Almost like printers and ink cartages, make you think about going back to tethered (plugged into the wall) systems.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by JoeS Made my drill work like new!
Had a tough choice to replace battery or just buy a new drill set. For the cost of two replacement batteries I could have bought a new drill set, however, I like the compact size of the current drill I have and it is not available anymore. The batteries hold a charge like the originals and work well - just hope they last as many years (six years) as the original ones.

Drill itself was nice. Battery was terrible. Bought an extra one when I purchased Ryobi drill. Product maybe less than 2 years old. Used seldom. When I did need to use the drill/ I charged one battery and then the extra one. Showed defective light. Used less than 2 hours total. Went to Home Depot to purchase an extra battery, only had 18 volt in stock. Home Depot person went to computer to look up battery. Could not locate 12 volt battery available and did not carry the product. Would not purchase another Ryobi product. Stay away from the 12 volt drill.
