Quiet, no cord or gas mix to deal with, plenty of power for it's size. It does leak oil but not a lot. From the manual, page 13:
"It is normal for lubricant to seep from the saw when not in use. To prevent seepage, empty the oil tank after each use"
Wish it didn't do that but I can live with it. I'll empty it if I won't be using it for a few weeks, otherwise just put it on some newspaper.
I already had some other Ryobi 40v tools so I didn't need the battery. Buying this saw with the battery and charger is $190. You could get a small electric saw and a medium sized gas saw for that much.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by ODF154 Best Chain Saw Ever !!!
We purchased this saw this year for use on our Christmas tree farm after my husband had shoulder surgery. I knew I couldn't keep up with pulling the cord to start our other saw and we needed something light, powerful and reliable. We got everything needed in this product. It is so light weight, easy to use, always ready to go when needed and great safety features keep curious little hands from starting it.We'll be adding another one soon. We have cut 23 trees in one day with trunk sizes from 3 to 6 inches and only dropped one bar on the charge meter. Easy enough for anyone to use. Probably the best purchase we have made for our farm. Everyone that sees it in action is amazed! I can't wait to show it to the Southern Christmas Tree Association members at our next meeting. It has already paid for itself just by saving me the frustration of trying to crank our gas model saw. Next purchase will be the string trimmer and the hedger attachment.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by SSLFamilyDad Excellent small saw for around the house
I try to give a thorough review when I do review products so I hope that anyone looking to purchase this saw will be better informed. The Ryobi 40v system has been pretty well built as far as I am concerned and I also have the 40v weed whipper (trimmer) as well.
I have had the chain saw for about a year now and have had a chance to use it this summer and throughout the winter. The saw is fairly powerful for an electric saw and is able to cut through 12 inch logs with no trouble. Now, this is no saw mill chain saw and nothing you are going to be milling lumber with but for a quick around the house saw it is great. I really had a hard time finding anything to ding the saw with since I have really not run into any trouble with it and am extremely happy with it's use. It cuts through about 10-12 inch logs with no trouble, battery is long lasting, and it is very quick and easy to use. No gas, mixing oil, or any real maintenance. Just add bar oil and you are off. Check out the video for a more detailed overview.

I've used this saw only once, so keep that in mind (I do), but based on that initial use, I'm pretty pleased with its performance.
I used it to hack up two large-variety Crape Myrtles (around 3-6" cuts mostly) - one of them dead and tough as nails - and it bogged only once on me in a pinched cut. (See photos I uploaded with this review of the said cut-up Crape Myrtles.)
Of course this thing is only for light duty, occasional use around the yard on limbs around 6" max in diameter, not whacking up a whole large tree, for Pete's sake.
If you're not over-expecting going in and not thinking it's gonna slice through stuff like butter, I think you may be pleased. More power out of the battery than I would've figured.
It's fairly lightweight and compact and easy to handle (and of course waaay quieter than gas), and the battery lasted for that entire session with plenty of juice to spare. The top handle is too small in diameter, though, and needs to be beefed up to give a more comfortable, secure feel.
It doesn't have a brake, but the guard on the nose appeared to work to prevent kickback. It didn't bump at all on me - the nose is completely isolated.
The chain stayed put in that initial session, and the tightening mechanisms stayed tight. I checked all along to be sure.
The next thing is...will it hold up. I'll be using it very seldom, so maybe it'll last me awhile.

This chain saw is great. I hope i dont have any problems with it. I keep things a long time and i think it will go the distance. Battery charge lasts as long as u can, all day.
