Use ABS plastic reducers - can "build it up" with some duct tape if necessary for a better fit.

Are there any suppliers out there that sell a conversion kit to make the 6 inch disc to a hook and loop system? I found a 5 inch, but with only a 6 inch disc I don't want to loose any space. Thanks -Len

I found these 6" Adhesive Sanding Disc back up pads to Hook and Loop, http://www.abrasiveresource.com/6-Conversion-Pads-p/06conversion.htm
I have not got the sander yet, let alone these pads, but the reviews are good and you get 5 for about 12$. At least you can change pads then without the hassle of waste or spray.

Have you found any way to convert adhesive to hook and loop? I really don't like the adhesive backing, it is a bit ridiculous. I would love to know how if you have figured it out, might be a deal breaker for me.

The Diablo brand belts work well. My sander came with a 60 grit sanding disk and belt. I also purchased a 120 grit belt for less aggressive, finer sanding.

120-Volt Bench Sander, Green is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 62.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall, good sander I purchased this belt/disk sander after my Delta finally gave out. Out of the box the set up was easy and quick. The belt tracks very good after one simple minor adjustment. The unit has not stalled out with anything I have tried so far. The only issue I had with this unit was the miter table. The width of the slot is not consistent from front to back. The miter gauge will bind when pushed from front to back of the table. Also, the dust collection is juts OK, it could be better. I have it hooked up to a shop vac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great benchtop belt sander Great bench top belt sander that covers all of the basics. I have found a few other sanders on line at slightly lower prices, but this one was in stock and available for pick-up the same day. One recommendation that I would make to Home Depot is that they need to carry finer grit belts and disc in stock in the stores. I actually had to wait for finer grit belts and discs to be delivered from another seller before I could use the sander to do what I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sander for the Money I wouldn't expect to give a $120 sander a 5 star review, but this one earns it for its excellent value. There are more rugged sanders out there, obviously. But our Scout troop was impressed enough with the first two of these that we bought a year ago that we just bought two more. First, the 4"x36" belt tracks well and is easy to adjust with the knob on the side. It doesn't keep trying to run off the edge while you sand. You can slow down or stop the belt if you really bear down on it, but if you use it in a normal fashion, it has plenty of power... especially when compared to some of the other brands of sanders of the same price we have since discarded. Changing the belt is extremely easy and takes mere seconds. I recently ran one of these sanders non-stop for an hour and a half grinding a knife, and it never slowed or got too hot. So again, I give this sander 5 stars because of it's price value. It may not be enough if you are a professional shop using it every day for hours and hours, but it is more than enough sander for the average garage user. So far, none of the four Ryobi sanders we own have let our troops down while sanding pinewood derby cars, bows, or any other wood working project.

Nevertheless, this and other Ryobi products I have purchased are just not of the quality of other products doing the same job. I guess I should know, you get what you pay for. If bench sanders were sold as: Good, Better, Best, this would be good. The point being that there are Better Belt Sanders and the Best Belt Sanders.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy Ryobi tools they are the worst! I bought a Ryobi belt sander 2 years ago and it broke after 1 and a half years of use. I brought it in for repair under warranty over 3 months ago and it will probably be at least another month yet. When I contacted Ryobi about my ridiculous wait they just told me that it is normal to wait this long and that there was nothing they would do about it. Ryobi doesn't care one bit about their customers and the tool didn't even work that good in the first place. The motor bogs down very easily and it doesn't track well at all.

Called Ryobi, and was told that the problem was likely a faulty capacitor. Ryobi claimed (on Dec. 31) that they would mail me a new capacitor. As of January 12, I am still waiting for the capacitor to arrive. Will call Ryobi again if it does not arrive in the next few days. Will edit this review if/when the capacitor arrives.
