I had to make some 30° in some rails to make a hand rail for a staircase. My 14.4v battery saw cut about 1/2" before it quit. I borrowed an old B&D that cut about 2" before dying. This Ryobi cut quickly and smoothly through all the rails and spindles. The miter function is easy to use and adjust. The depth of cut is easy to use and adjust. The motor is reasonably powerful [13 amps on 110v = about 1.9hp], and much more current draw would be close to the limit on the 15 amp circuits common in America.
You're not buying the fanciest or most sturdy saw, but it's inexpensive, easy to use, and more than suitable for the occasional home project.

I have a DeWalt circular saw that is very heavy and I find myself reaching for this one for most chores because it's very light. There are a couple down sides, though. It seems to get stuck a lot more often than my DeWalt saw and then kicks back some. I guess it's because it's so light. Also, it has no safety on it so when you pick it up sometimes you hit the trigger and it turns on. But overall, I really like it and like I said I often choose this over the DeWalt because the DeWalt will wear you out just holding it!

After cutting fewer than 20 CCA 2x4's the blade would hang up and stop. I am going to try a new blade to see if that helps.

I bought this to use for cutting Unilock wall block for a DIY wall project. I have the Ryobi one+ circular saw but it's a smaller blade and I honestly thought whatever I used on the wall project would get burned out by the time I was done. So I actually bought this with the intention of using it once.
I also bought the Avanti Pro 7 in. Turbo Diamond Blade to go with it. At $55 total it was still less than renting a stone saw and it gave me flexibility on the time I took to complete the job. So being a "throw away" saw didn't feel so bad.
Not only did it complete my project with ease, I loaned it to a friend who used it to make all the edge cuts on a 20X20 Unilock paver patio. Probably 100+ paver cuts. And for what it's worth that was still with the original blade, which was a bonus.
After all that it still works and looks good as new! Never bogged down on cutting stone, but make sure you have the right blade for the job, with the right blade it should be powerful enough for most things.

It hesitates and kicks back. It cant even cut a 2x4 and the saw blade is too close to the guard and is scratching it up. I recomend spendins some money on a real saw.

I purchased this saw to make some straight cuts on a door. I must say it is light and user friendly, it also makes very straight cuts on hollow doors. I returned it though because it started stalling when I had to cut pine or very hard woods.
I needed something stronger. But this is a very good saw for a Newby.
