I picked up this little 7 1/4 saw because I wanted a backup while building our off grid cabin on my great grandparents home quarter. Anyhow this little saw has been going steady for 2 weeks. It has cut through everything we feed it! 2x10's 2x4's 1/2 sheets of plywood...ect! Anyone that says this saw stalls is forcing it. It has never stalled on me. This little saw cut all the 2x6's in our 22x40 cabin. Along with the 2x4's on the inside walls and a lot of the plywood for the outside outer walls. For the sheets of plywood I did switchover to a Diablo replacement blade. Other than that its a excellent little saw.
My friend is a professional contractor with saws 5 times the price with high end blades. He told me that he was very impressed with this little saw.
This saw has paid for itself 10 times over!
For the average carpenter it's all you need!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by TL The saw is fine except for the left hand handle / knob. When using right handed as you should, you can't see what you are doing very well. Using left handed allows you to see, but is unsafe and not recommended. Perhaps Ryobi will redesign for future models.
Also does not come with a rip fence / guide. I feel thats kind of petty!

I had to make some 30° in some rails to make a hand rail for a staircase. My 14.4v battery saw cut about 1/2" before it quit. I borrowed an old B&D that cut about 2" before dying. This Ryobi cut quickly and smoothly through all the rails and spindles. The miter function is easy to use and adjust. The depth of cut is easy to use and adjust. The motor is reasonably powerful [13 amps on 110v = about 1.9hp], and much more current draw would be close to the limit on the 15 amp circuits common in America.
You're not buying the fanciest or most sturdy saw, but it's inexpensive, easy to use, and more than suitable for the occasional home project.

I use the saw for casual jobs and it works fine. Not sure if you are a pro how it would hold up.

I bought this to use for cutting Unilock wall block for a DIY wall project. I have the Ryobi one+ circular saw but it's a smaller blade and I honestly thought whatever I used on the wall project would get burned out by the time I was done. So I actually bought this with the intention of using it once.
I also bought the Avanti Pro 7 in. Turbo Diamond Blade to go with it. At $55 total it was still less than renting a stone saw and it gave me flexibility on the time I took to complete the job. So being a "throw away" saw didn't feel so bad.
Not only did it complete my project with ease, I loaned it to a friend who used it to make all the edge cuts on a 20X20 Unilock paver patio. Probably 100+ paver cuts. And for what it's worth that was still with the original blade, which was a bonus.
After all that it still works and looks good as new! Never bogged down on cutting stone, but make sure you have the right blade for the job, with the right blade it should be powerful enough for most things.

I bought this saw today because I left my other one at another jobsite yesterday and needed a cheap replacrment. My two complaints are: 1) doesn't cut straight; 2) very under powered as I tried to cut a 3/8 inch rip cut on a hollow door. Also, the way dusy exits is terrible! Shoots dust up instead of out!
