13-amp 10 in. Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 156.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems to be a great saw, will cut 4x4 no problem. I bought this saw today and was apprehensive about one issue - will it cross cut a 4x4 board without having to flip it. The simple answer is yes it will, and with ease. I could not find this information while researching the saw so I hope this helps someone else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional value, great for framing, finish AND firewood! I've owned this saw for about 6 months. While I don't make my living doing finish carpentry, I am a very hard core DIYer who lives and works in a 150 year old New England farmhouse. I can see that you could spend 2x or 3x the money and get a better saw, but for my use it's fine. Since purchasing the saw I have completed a major kitchen remodel (by major, I mean gutted to the studs and sheathing!) and built a custom reception desk/ workstation for my wife who is the Office Manager for my small business. While I did spend a couple of hours tweaking the setup of the guides and the laser, it is spot on now! During both the kitchen remodel and the desk project I used it for everything from framing to finish to cutting scrap at the end of the project to make woodstove sized kindling. The pine trim on the desk and the premium / clear ($$$!) oak window and door trim is impeccable with 101% perfect cuts every time! Yes, I agree the miter adjustment lock would be friendlier if it had a cam lock rather than a handle you had to turn a half a dozen times, but for my use and to save 400 bucks over a competitors product, I'll deal with it. My only gripe is that the laser has failed, but that's probably my own doing... as someone else mentioned, the laser is tough to see in the bright sunlight, and I have been guilty of leaving the laser on for hours after being done with the saw. As it was beyond the 90 day free replacement period, I went online and bought a replacement laser transformer for $15. Last month I FINALLY bought the matching Ryobi folding stand for it and I love that, too! No more sawhorses & planks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How to square the blade to the miter fence. Just got the saw and love it. As a lot of reviewers have stated you will need to adjust the miter fence if you want it to be perfectly square. The operator's manual that comes with the unit tells how to do it with a square against the blade. Forget that. Do it this way. With a clean 1 x 4 or wider board use your square and scribe a 90 degree line across the board. Loosen the four socket head screws that hold the miter fence to the table. Turn on the laser light. Position the board tight against the fence and then move the fence till the laser is in perfect alignment with the 90 degree mark you put on the board. Tighten down the fence. Presto you'll make perfect 90 degree cuts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value You can't find a better valued compound sliding miter saw. I've used mine for furniture making and it has served me well. I didn't think I'd ever use the laser, however, it has saved me some time in lining up cuts. Overall, if you are a homeowner, do it yourself sort of guy, I strongly recommend this saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase I bought this mainly to save time and improve the accuracy of cross cuts when I had a lot of cutting to do. I mounted/bolted this to one end of my workbench so that I can take it off if I really need the space, but if you take off the extension arms when not in use it rarely gets in the way. Makes cross cutting jobs SUPER quick. Adjusts very quickly and easily and holds the settings well. I can't say I use the laser much - I go by setting the blade and find it very accurate. The out-of-box blade is fine for most jobs. The motor is plenty powerful and brakes the blade down quickly. Very glad that I got the sliding model for longer cut capacity - definitely worth the extra money. The only flaw I found is with the clamp for holding down what you are cutting. You can only use the clamp on the left side. The position for it on the right side actually interferes with the handle/motor when you lower the blade. With it only installed on the left, for some jobs it is not secure enough and you must give extra manual support. This is a minor inconvenience. I am overall very happy with this saw. It has basically made my hand saw and circular saw obsolete.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ryobi sliding miter saw I purchased this item after much research into the various sliding miter saws available. Saws in this class tend to run $500.00 and more. For the casual user this is way out of line and makes the purchase of an item like this next to impossible. As I needed a saw that would do compound cuts on some wide shelf boards, I looked at this item in my local Home Depot store and was impressed not only with the price but also the quality of the saw. Comparing this item to one I looked at the local import tool srore there was no play in the slide system, no excess side to side movement and a general hefty feel to its construction. The proof in my decesion came when I got my saw home and set it up. All presets from the factory were dead on and I was cutting moulding in less than 20 minutes from opening the box. Preset detents for the angle cuts as well as the bevel gauge indications made for precise miter joints in all cuts.. The saw is light enough that I can carry it easily from my workshop to other locations without any problems. The only reason I gave the saw a "4" overall rating was because the slide arms stick so far out the back of the saw and i was unable to mount it to my existing miter saw bench without completely rebuilding it. Also, one of the first improvements I made to my unit was to install a good quality 60 tooth mitersaw blade. True to all mitersaws I have ever used, the dust bag doesn't do a great job of collecting the dust thrown off by the saw. In summary, the high points are: cost, quality of construction, increased cutting capacity, ease of use and the Ryobi name. The only negitive points are the amount of room needed behind the saw for the arms and the quality of the included blade. This is a good investment for the occasional use by a homeowner as well as the person like me who is retired and uses his tools to supplement his free time enjoyment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serenity Stables Generally, I like DeWalt and Porter and Cable products but I bought this Ryobi Miter Saw and the companion Miter Saw Table Stand when they went on sale for $169.00 a piece. At 55years old, I've done all kinds of woodworking jobs; Starting out as a general farm manager, then becoming a Woodworking Student, DIY, professional woodworker/contractor and now back to an Equine Stable Owner. I've renovated our barn, constructed two healthy sized outdoor arenas for our horse management needs, mended fences (pardon the pun) and put in a deck all in a manner of about 7 months. I've used these tools for cutting 7 inch cedar posts and 2 X 12 X12 and even cutting logs to size for our wood burning stove. These two pieces of equipment have never let me down. Almost right out of the box I began using it. The only thing I had to do, was to make a small adjustment to square it up accurately as I expected I might have to do. After that it was game on. It is quality value for the pricing and the 3 year warranty was an an attractive feature. If you need a sliding miter saw and stand Get this one. You will not be disappointed. I took a serious look at other high end products with respect to the stand and the stand held up to the bigger price tag boys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent!!! I bought this saw and couldn't wait to get it home to try it out. I tested it our for the 45 and the 90 and it was perfect right out of the box!!! Even the left angle 45 was dead on!! I cold not be happier!! I just finished making my son a dbl bed the other day, and the cuts are perfect. no blade wobble at all, you couldn't ask for a better saw!! The laser guide is dead on. I cut perfect 45's in 2 x 12's for a corner shelf, the best I've ever done!!
