Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I'm really glad I got this tool !!! Got this sliding compound miter saw the other day. I had looked at several others online and this one has the best price for what you get. I was thinking about getting a plain compound miter but then I thought what if I need to do straight cuts on larger sizes of wood; can't do that with a plain miter. I also would need to buy a circular saw too in order to do that task. So this is really 2 tools built into 1. My 1st project was to build a work bench for it. I got all of my materials and finished the job; took about 3 hrs. This is my first time using a compound miter saw as well. I used a miter box and saw.... in the past;but this is so much easier and faster....Can't wait for my next project.... February 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Litterally Falling Apart As a homeowner, I bought this saw along with the Ryobi stand a little less than a year ago to do my basement reno project. I have been using it with little issues for the first several months. Now that I am close to the end of my project that saw started falling apart. The plastic blade guard fell off due the attachment braking off. Additionally the front knob that is used to set the angles also broke off and is just dangling from the arm. The laser has become skewed and no longer usable. I was hoping this saw would have been with me for years to come as I own whole line of Ryobi power tools and accessories. This was very disappointing. I will look for a replacement but another brand. This experience will make be reconsider buying other Ryobi power tools. August 17, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi 10" sliding mitre saw This saw is very well priced and and is a great value at that price, however the mitre stops are not as positve as one needs. In using the saw I found that in tightening the locking screw to hold the saw at the mitre stop, the saw moved position, not holding true. With very little effort one can move the saw from its locked position off its mark without unlocking it. Ryobi would have a excellent saw if the stops were solid locks rather than a ball in hole detent and a lock that engages a serated guide that doesn't hold position. Bed was flat and operation was easy to use. I am returning this and may try another Ryobi or may upgrade to another saw. October 5, 2008
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lacking in precision and versatility Before you buy this saw, check the fence to be sure it is straight. The fence on the Ryobi saw I purchased was not straight, making precision cuts almost impossible. When I went back for a replacement saw, I found two others with crooked fences. Ryobi needs better quality control here. Also, consider whether you will need to cut wood thicker that 3 1/2 inches. And look carefully at the saw's angle cut capabilities, as they are quite limited, and you may want greater versatility. Otherwise, this saw has performed well, and the price was competitive. But if I buy another miter saw, I'll spend more to get more. November 12, 2009
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Quality I have restored motorcycles and cars for the past 40 years ... I mention this to illustrate I am not a novice when it comes to tools; however, to be fair I am not a journeyman carpenter. This tool was purchased for a deck project with the intent of selling it after the deck was completed; therefore, I purchased a lesser quality saw ... mistake! The saw was very difficult to true and square the blade with the deck. This problem was greatly amplified when making mitered joints and angle cuts. Scale calibrations would not hold for more than a few cuts. Don't Buy Ryobi ... Go ahead and spend the money for a higher quality saw particularly if you are going to be doing detail work and, you are critical of your own work! November 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by How did I live without this? I bought the Ryobi from Home Depot and ordered a Port-A-Mate Miter saw work stand from elsewhere. They are a great set and allow me to move my saw from the garage, where I do cabinetry, to the garden, where I use the miter saw to cut through landscaping 4x4s to build raised beds for the garden and to put around the trees in my orchard. The angles cut precisely and the slide on the saw is great for cutting 2x10s for the garden. Before purchasing the Ryobi, I was using my table saw and had to flip the 4x4s to cut through if I was not cutting at 90 degree angles. Cons - The saw dust collector fills up very rapidly with 4x4 cuttings. June 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by cannot get precision cuts I needed the 12" cut and this saw was the only one I could afford. Regrettably, due to the poor construction, the saw does not work well and I was not able to get precision cuts with it. Even on a straight 90-degree cut, I could not get a clean straight line. Mainly, the locking mechanism is poor, making it difficult to lock down for angle cuts. Also, the right clamp is in the way and will prevent the sliding motor arm from cutting the rest of the wood. The saw does cut well but not for precision or angle cuts. February 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing value for money Bottom line is this saw is far superior to the similar priced version from craftsman and (kobalt - lowes brand). The other are sloppy, loads of play on them, but the ryobi is solid, I've had it for 2 years for onsite work and it's still going strong. The main area where the others fail is the locking mechanism for the miter angle, as you tighten at the angle you want the bed moves against the fence throwing the angle off, the Ryobi mechanism is better designed so the place you start to tighten the angle lever is the place it stays. If you have 600 spare get the big brand that is superior still to the ryobi, but you won't be disappointed with the 200$ you spend here. December 12, 2013
