I have a Ryobi 14.4-volt cordless circular saw for which I need a replacement battery. But HD no longer carries the battery I need. So I'm stuck with a saw I can't use and apparently have no choice but to purchase a new one. Guess what---it definitely won't be from HD.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rippyz A pleasant surprise
I didn't read the description thoroughly when I placed the order and was expecting a no-name brand, but was surprised when I received the batteries; these are genuine Ryobi batteries. I've searched many places online for third-party batteries thinking they would be cheaper than Home Depot, but what a waste of time; I should've looked here first (duh, I bought my Ryobi power tools from the local Home Depot). These genuine Ryobi brand batteries are half the price of the cheapest third-party, no-name brand batteries that I have found. Two thumbs up!! On top of that, the package arrived 3 days earlier than the expected date from UPS.

You discontinued the 14.4 battery, so what am I supposed to do with my tools?

It is a great Drill, it is light weight and durable, you just don't have any battiers for it.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bojohn Stay away from Ryobi Cordless products!
I would recommend staying away from Ryobi cordless products. Based upon the purchases I'd made, and the lasting power, quality obviously isn't one of their key areas of emphasis. I've had nothing but issues with these 14.4 Volt batteries. You buy replacements, and if you're not a heavy user they'll be dead beyond use (after 1-2 years), rendering the entire cordless set useless (until you pony up for new fixes to get you through another year or two).
After messing around with this junk for far too long (by buying extra batteries), I went and purchased Dewalt instead and have been totally impressed (and happy) with their equipment, (and their batteries) ever since, they've earned a lifelong fan. By the way, I did not purchase my Dewalt equipment from Home Depot, I gave them their one chance with power equipment a long time ago, and they failed miserably. (I would like to have thought that their quality control department would have insisted on making Ryobi fix their inferior product years ago, to keep their customers happy)...

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SIL50 Ryobi 14.4 volt battery not very good longevity.
Having purchased a Ryobi power tool set that includes a circular saw and drill, this is the 3rd battery I've gone through. Very poor lifespan, and probably just a good example of an inferior earlier battery technology. Would not recommend getting into Ryobi products that work at 14.4 volts.

I too bought two of these batteries and was pleased with the performance for about a year.
Now neither one will hold a charge,
I have two of these drills and found them to be exceptional in my cabinet business. The last one the batteries are still going strong. I bought one about 8 years ago and the other about 4 years ago. I have two of other brands. One is an 18 volt and the other is a 24 volt but I still reach for my ryobis because they outperform the other brands.
I only wish these replacement batteries would hold up longer.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Discouraged Replacement one last time
Two previous generations of 14.4 volt batteries for my drill have died. Now they're being made obsolete by the newer, more expensive models. I had to order these batteries to keep the drill going one last time. The only option is buying new tools. The batteries work for now.
