CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 191 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by what was wrong with the old I recently purchased the Ryobi 10 in. compound miter saw with laser after some comparitive shopping. I was told that there were some changes to this model but never thought that the changes would take away from this mitre saw rather then compliment it. It's a great workhorse but unreliable after the changes, They removed the locking clip which made it easier to move the blade to the desired angle and after several cuts the locking screw would loosen causing slight variances in the cuts. The laser is totally useless when used outdoors and even indoors has to be calibrated after several cuts. What was wrong with the older version of this model that they had to make changes besides cutting costs and maintaining the retail. July 18, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi - again a great deal Hi, After buying, and being really pleased with an inexpensive Ryobi table saw, I thought I'd try my luck again with this little mitre saw. It does a great job - powerful, accurate, easy and safe to use. I thought the laser was a gimmick but it's actually brilliant. I've never had a mitre saw do such nice work so easily! I think it's a great value and as much tool as most homeowners will ever need. I've renovated our last 2 homes, and wish I bought this earlier, rather than depending on borrowing or renting. I know it will last me years. A definite best buy! December 4, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the price! Light and portable! I bought this saw 7-8 months ago and have used it almost daily since. I am very happy with it, I have mostly used it to cut studs and other spruce and finishing woods. I have absolutely no complaints about this saw, it works great every time, the blade is still good too. The most attractive thing about this saw for me is that it is so light and portable, which is exactly what i was looking for. December 10, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Little Saw I've had this mitre saw for about a month now and have had only a few complaints. This is by no means a professional duty saw however it should be fine for any DIYer. Pros: -Price, this saw is very cheap -Laser, this laser feature is very accurate -Accuracy, the saw didn't need any adjustments right out of the box. -Overall quality, it seems to be generally very high quality. -Weight, this saw is actually very light, much lighter than and other mitre saw I have ever used. -Blade, the blade it came with isn't really that bad, if you are doing very accurate work then I could see it being a problem but for the trim cutting I have done it has been fine so far. Cons: -Clamp, the clamp tends to move the work piece off centre. -Lack of work light, really, it's a $100 saw so what do you expect, but a work light would be nice. -Dust collector, as many other reviewers have stated it doesn't collect that much dust and can get plugged up. -Battery powered laser, I have had to replace the batteries multiple times, it would be nice if the laser was AC powered, not a big deal but would be better. Overall this saw is pretty good if you don't have a lot of money to spare. March 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Essential for DIY-ers VERY glad I went with a miter saw with a Laser. Once you've squared your saw and calibrated the Laser (should be spot on or very very close right out of the box anyway), the Laser is an awesome time saver and convenience. For the price, this is a great value miter saw. I'm just a weekend DIYer without any professional training / experience and this is my first miter saw so I don't have much to compare to. That being said, I have no show-stopping complaints yet. The included clamp to secure your material was a little more cumbersome than I cared for so I just remove it when working. Similar to other reviews, the dust bag genuinely doesn't function as intended. There's little to no saw dust going in. Just prepare for a lot of saw dust typical of any sawing. And one missing feature would be to have extension supporting arms on other side of the table like the Ryobi Sliding miter saw. I used this saw to make tons of cuts (1x3, 1x4, and 2x2 pine wood) to make a set of Bunk Beds and was SO glad I had it. HUGE time saver...doing all that cutting with a circular saw would've taken forever. This miter saw zips right through. The blade brake is a nice feature as the saw quickly stops after each cut so you can slide the material through for the next cut. Includes a 20-tooth saw blade which provides clean edges without hardly any shredding. For finer wood projects, I'm sure a 40 or 60-tooth blade would be better. For a small DIYer who still wants a quality product that works very well, this saw at this price is tough to beat. And I spent a couple weeks price & feature comparing...and I'm very happy with my choice! March 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just buy it already Pros: The built-in laser allowed very precise cuts. Lightweight and easy to carry. Very sharp blade! Cuts through wood studs like butter. Stops spinning within 3 seconds. Base swivels up to 45 degrees, left and right. Works well, handles well. For small to medium sized projects, this saw will not disappoint you. So just buy it already Cons: Can only tilt blade to the LEFT for angled cuts. Only about 50% of the saw dust goes into the bag. August 4, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth the price I like this saw. My old 8" would not cut 4x4's but it served me well over 25 years. This new Ryobi 10" cut through wet pressure-treated 4x4's straight and square without a problem. I love the clamp and the big D-handle. I really love that the deck height is exactly 3" or the thickness of two 2x4's which is exactly what I usually have around the worksite - great for propping up the end of a long board. I have already recommended it to my sons and I am happy to recommend it to you. April 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Saw for the Price I thought I would post an unbiased review since I rely so much on these reviews when I am shopping. I needed a saw to cut treated wood, 2x2, 2x4, and 1x6 to replace a bunch of rotted wood on my Acadian style front porch that is the width of the house. This saw was perfect. The first weekend I rented a Ryobi for $30 but realized I could have bought this one for $119 so I did buy it the next weekend. I considered the Hitachi at Lowe's for $139 but after looking at both of them, I thought the Ryobi had a better quality feel. It will do anything you need for your home. I am now going to put crown molding in my master bedroom. I'm done with the porch. The blade cuts smoothly and the lazer guide is great. You can't beat if for the price. This is all I will ever need for home. Pros will probably need something bigger. This is compact at 27 lbs. and won't break your back. July 18, 2011
